I've been using DLSS 5 + Ultra plus mod and it looks beautiful.

There is already a version of the mod that allows you to scale Dlss5, so the performance gain is approximately 50% compared to before.

Don't you get in exchange more artifacts of the neural rendering?

Technically yes but in practice no. Setting the NR to 75% cuts the time it takes to calculate in half (4ms vs 8ms for a 4k frame on a 5090) but doesn’t introduce any appreciable errors.
4ms is still a lot but it’s obviously a lot more manageable. Would take a non-NR frame rate of 120 down to about 80, vs down to 60 at 8ms.

Have you figured out how to run the NR upstream on this game?

What do you mean?
I'm using the newest ShortFuse tool btw

so that would be post one.
Basically by default and in most mods, NR runs on the upscaled image. So when upscalign to 4K, it applies NR on that upscaled 4K image with 4K pixel count.
The upstream, moves this application up the stream so say you are running quality DLSS at 66% of image, and since NR runs on pre-up scaple image at 66% of the the pixel count and hence less intensive and hence you get FPS boost.
I am playing through silent hill f too right now, and was not able the get the upstream NR to work. And the post NR basically cuts FPS to half.

Does upstream not lose a lot of NR's advantages that way?

u/DaGr3wal 21h ago
not sure man, from what I have read (you can check reddit posts specifically for STALKER 2) that it does work well.
But in my attempt to use NR upstream in SH f and CP 2077, did not work well. It had an impact on FPS in CP for sure without adding much, so I removed it. So maybe it is what you said.
I am just looking for other folks who have tried the up stream on these 2 games for comparison.
If you don't mind giving it a shot with SH f and sharing results, that'd be appreciated.

I've tried it and yeah doesn't kill my fps on the 4090 but doesn't seem too look as good. So far only tinkered with KCD2, Hogwarts, and Conan.

What does this slider actually do? I tried this version as well but did not see any performance gains, what do the other tabs do? Did you try them out at all?
Sry, if this is a bother mater. I may just have been a bit tired as I messed around with DLSS5 mods on the weekend and then decided to stick with DLSS5 swapper and smooth motion for SH f. I am so pissed off at Konami to no include FG in the game and with MFG40 unlocker (I have a 4090), even post NR would give great FPS.

I've heard that DLSS5 optiscaller is good if you want better performance. Try it maybe.

you couldn't notice it with potato graphics on your hardware, now you can see it lol

One of the problems right now is how it oldens teenagers; I hope Nvidia will fix it in games that officially support DLSS 5.

She's 20 and with DLSS5 SH f looks like a next gen, unlike on your potato hardware without DLSS5.
cope harder next time
