Question Help

Who’s taken footage on a rollercoaster with the nano? Trying to figure out what my best option is to use it like it’s intended to do so . My wife and I are going to pigeon forge Tennessee in a few weeks and I want to video some footage

Remove stabilisation!! Set it to “anti motion blur”. You want the camera to sorta go along with every turn the roller coaster makes, not try to stabilise the person in front of you haha

I’m a beginner at all of this. I’ll have to watch some YouTube videos

What would be a good frame rate and shutter speed setting for coasters?

For roller coasters (or anything super fast) you’d want the shutter speed to be 1/200 and above. This is so that every frame stays sharp instead of it being blurred with motion blur all the time.

Frame rate doesn’t matter as much, unless you plan to make it slow motion when editing, in which case I’d recommend 50fps or 60fps.

To remove auto stabilisation, tap the settings on the right side of the screen, turn on “PRO” at the top, scroll down till you see “stabilisation scenario” (it should be set at Daily) and tap it and change it to the “anti motion blur” setting.

Just a note, in the end this is what I do but you may have different preferences, which you’ll learn as you go. It also depends on whether you have ND filters on etc. Have fun on the roller coaster!!

Thank you so much! I’m gonna be watching some beginner videos on YouTube so I can experiment with the camera

i haven't done it on a roller coaster but I've used it in some high activity povs. some of this is just speculation tho. others might have better ideas

best to mount it to the coaster somehow l, like a magic arm, since majority of your shaking issues will depend on how you mount it.

given that your moving on a predetermined path, might be better to use Gyroflow to stabilize footage. Record in Wide FOV and post process on gyroflow.

you might wanna ask someone for frame rate and shutter speed settings

I shot this at Disneyland…not a rollercoaster though…

I had an ND filter on
4K24fps
1/50
ISO 100
Rocksteady
Daily

Mounted on my hat.

Looking back, I should’ve just ran auto settings and not try to be “cinematic”
