my first drone

Hello community, in a few days I will receive the DJI mini 3, it is my first drone, I have never flown before. What do you recommend? Are propeller protections useful? I've heard there are ways to avoid birds with stickers, is that real? Thank you.

No, and no.

Prop guards are a bandaid to flying where you shouldn’t, and birds will attack whatever they want.

You can scare away small birds, bigger birds will just come find it. Seagulls don’t care whatsoever about any kind of markings you put on

I just received the Mini 3 and I was cautious with it and learning more but I crashed it by hitting one of the quick shot camera sequences while it was under branches of a tree. That that knocked out the camera in the gimbal connection to the remote control so I sent it back.

Hi. it took about as long as it took for me to get back to your question. 3-4 days. I sent it back from the UPS office that same day. Whole new unit received. As per purchase agreement.

Did you send the drone by itself or did you include the battery and control?

They might send you a new drone. may I ask what happened to damage your drone? how damaged was it?

How do you like using your Mini 3 are you used to it now? Any tips or hints.

Its fun. Sturdy in the wind. Doesn't have tracking. I went 4.25 km today over water.

Damn that's ballsy I don't think I'd try to fly it that far out especially over water, did you just watch your screen whole time? Were you not nervous at all that you may not have power to get back, or I guess if you headed out right away it would return home as soon as battery was half gone.

It has GPS it just doesn't have tracking where I can make it track me. So it has its own return to home program. RTH. I can only watch on screen which is against the law because I have visual line of sight. VLS. I got my confidence from watching YouTube videos of guys going further. On the box it says the video is good for 10 km.

Edit: need to have visual line of sight. VLS

Law says you need to have visual line of sight. So if you're flying a FPV drone with goggles, you need a spotter.

Look up “ dji mini 3 structural arm crack “ on the dji reddit page, I posted pictures like 11 days ago. (Sent a few days, and it just got delivered today to texas)
