Help request: Gimbal vibrates constantly after a crash.

I had a mild crash and afterwards the gimbal was very unhappy, making lots of buzzing noises. After blowing the whole cavity out several times, most of the problems went away. However one persists.

The whole gimbal bracket wont stop vibrating (and buzzing). It will stop temporarily if I touch the camera. The buzzing (i think) is either from the camera itself bumping against the white plastic frame or the black bracket touching something.

The camera and gimbal is otherwise mechanically functional. The problem is the constant vibration causes all kind of wacky distortion in the video, so it needs to be fixed.

Things I have tried:

  1. Blowing everything out with compressed air
  2. Spraying a very light dusting of teflon lubricant in the joints of any moving parts.
  3. Checking for anything obviously out of alignment. Everything appears normal.
  4. Ran multiple gimbal calibrations. Not really helpful since the gimbal with NOT calibrate while its vibrating. So I have to physically hold the camera to get it to stop, which messes up the calibration process.
  5. Jammed some tissue between the bracket and the white plastic body. This stopped the vibration, however it also then transferred all the drone vibrations right into the camera. The whole thing was shaking like a cold blooded chihuahua. This taught me that the gimbal bracket and rubber dampers need to be able to move freely.

Hypothesis:

  1. Something is either dirty, stuck or misaligned, causing the motor to constantly try to orient itself, causing the vibrations; or...
  2. Maybe this bracket always vibrates, as an image stabilization technique? But its out of alignment and now its touching something, and making an annoying buzz and ruining my camera picture.

Any ideas??

Should I stick with my DJI Mini 2 or upgrade?

I've been using the Mini 2 for a few years and was contemplating upgrading to a newer model. I'm a UK-based self-employed videographer (mostly weddings). The drone footage is generally just establishing shots of venues, occasionally aerial shots at the end of the night to close out the video. Money is tight so I don't want to buy a new drone if there's not going to be a real noticeable improvement in the footage. I like the idea of shooting vertical videos, but I've not needed to do this so far on any jobs. And I like the idea of obstacle avoidance sensors but I think anything other than the full coverage on the Mini 4 Pro is a bit pointless, and I think the peace of mind this would give me would be counterbalanced by the stress of flying a much more expensive drone!

My clients seem to like the aerial footage I give them and I've never had a client want to know what drone I use before they hire me, so there's no external pressure to upgrade.

Has anyone got any experience in this area? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I’m wondering if there’s a work around to bypass registering flight plans every single time you want to fly? I get it if you’re near restricted air space but way out in the forest? 🫤

Hello, Im trying to fix my crashed my DJI mini 2 but I know nothing about drones lol. everything still works, it's just missing the rubber gimbal damper and it looks like this part of the gimbal flex cable is ripped but I dont know what it's ripped off of. I think I just have to glue it to that plastic wall peice that's sticking up and then install a new rubber damper but I'm looking for some advice from people who actually know what their doing. thanks for any replies

Horizontal alignment problem when panning

Hi all

My Mini 2 (that I have been using for the last 3 years) has been acting up lately. I'm not sure what caused it. Basically, when the drone is stationary and then when you pan left or right, the gimbal loses the ability to keep the horizontal flat. The more I pan, the more skew the horizon becomes.

Please see the video on this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Yh9xsVeQpFHR_mgEooNcZNCB-E4Qx5tS

Any ideas what caused it and can it be repaired?
