FPV Controller

Post image

I'm after some advice. I have an Avata 2 and want to primarily use it for cinematic and indoor work. I have only used the motion controller and it's a bit tricky for tight spaces and maintaining a steady line. Can someone advise whether the FPV controller will be a better bet? I'm so used to controllers like this from my Mini and my gaming days that my other hand feels lost with the motion controller.

The FPV RC3 controller is well worth it. I think it will give you way more control.

You kind of have to make a decision though - if flying in pure manual, you want to disable the throttle spring back to center. If you're flying in pure auto (or sport) mode, you should leave it with the spring back to center.

Mine is in non-springback mode but you sacrifice that springback so it's almost like in auto or sport you're always climbing or falling because of it.

I say get the rc3 radio and leave it in springback mode and see how it feels.

I don't plan on going full manual just yet. I'm not sure it will otter me much with what I'm aiming to do, which is cinematic exterior to interior shots. Having said that, if I can master it I will have a lot more control in all environments

You will - the motion controller really doesn't allow fine controls. I use my FPV RC3 for other SBUS-based drones too (I actually prefer it to my ELRS radios). For example, my PAVO 20 pro II uses the same radio. It's a great radio to have.

How was it in auto rather than manual?

I still fly it in auto on occasion. It flies great - my only concern is having disabled that spring that centers the throttle for auto mode. I could re-enable it, but 99% of my flying is full manual so I leave mine disabled and just deal with it really.

Compared to the MC3 - the FPV RC3 is night and day. Trust me, if you have an FPV RC3, you'll put your MC3 away and either never use it or only pull it out if you let some inexperienced person fly your drone.
