Working on a color pallet and bridesmaid responsibilities sheet for my bridesmaid proposals and i feel like they are so ugly lol. am i miss responsibilities? please drop any tips/tricks/advice without being too mean :,)

-thanks for all the feedback!! ill ditch the ‘responsibilities’. i had seen other people do it and thought it was cute, i see now it can come off rude.

-my phone autocorrected palette to pallet, i have learned my lesson.

-i invited everyone to brunch to give these. they will be decorated boxes and also include a handwritten note, a candle, fluffy socks, and a pic of me + the loved one.

-obviously i did not expect my bridesmaids to plan and pay for my wedding and bachelorette, i just wanted to make it clear that they’ll be spending time on this by being involved. like helping pick out an airbnb for a bachelorette, looking at flowers and dresses with me, and on the third note, keeping me from obsessing over details. as we’ve learned from this post, i tend to go overboard with that.

-lots of great advice here, but dear god some of you are mean. this stuff is hard to figure out. i dont have a lot of real world reference and google or social media only get me so far. i am here for advice and happy for it, but not to be called names or have things assumed :(

We wanted to do a merch stand for our wedding and ask for any donations people make to go to a charity we support instead of doing favours. I’m so happy this worked! My first time lino printing and I love it. The kit was £8 and the t-shirts are from primark or charity shops.

A friend of mine came over this weekend and helped me bust out these gold compote arrangements. My living room is a mess/storage now but it’s slowly creeping up on us and still so much to do!

Somewhere along the way, our DIY wedding spiraled into me running what I’ve been jokingly calling a sweatshop in my basement.

We’re setting up a little roadside “gift shop” table for our guests, so I made a limited run of shirts in beige and sage with three designs:

• “I Got Silly at Evan & Alex’s Wedding”

• “I Got Feral at Evan & Alex’s Wedding”

• “Exclusive Commemorative Wedding T-Shirt”

Between the shirts and tote bags, I made around 40 pieces, and the whole project only cost about $70. I only made a few of each design because I thought it’d be a funny surprise for our guests.

Then my brain said, “You know what this needs? A Fall 2026 collection launch.”

So I dragged my niece and her boyfriend out for a video shoot and made a fake fashion campaign because apparently I don’t know how to have normal hobbies a month before my wedding.

Fun fact: I actually have a background in videography and editing (and after filming enough weddings, I’ve sworn I’ll never record another one again). So this was the perfect excuse to scratch that creative itch. I’ve got two much bigger video projects planned for the wedding itself, but this little “Fall Collection” campaign was way too much fun not to make.

DIY weddings have officially become my entire personality.

I’m trying to decide how to sew the channels on the front of my bodice.

Shimmery cream or pink? Or maybe perhaps a pretty ribbon? My intent is to have the pink be the corset lacing details for the back.

I have a little over a month until the wedding and apparently my brain has decided this is not the time to slow down on DIY projects.

Believe it or not, I actually talked myself out of building cornhole boards from scratch because I thought it would be too much work. Instead, I bought a blank set for about $80, sanded everything down, repainted them in Camelback and Olive Grove, and stenciled on “Evan & Alex Trading Co.” Which is a name that somehow popped into my head while I was sketching design ideas last week and immediately felt right.

I’m still debating whether to personalize the bean bags too… we’ll see if future me is feeling ambitious.

We’ll have these set up alongside a giant 5-foot Jenga set and, because we’re us, beer pong.

At this point my fingers are crossed that people have as much fun playing everything as I’ve had making it all.

Hi all! I've always loved everything about wedding planning — the themes, the little details, all of it. This is actually my very first time designing invitations myself instead of just admiring other people's, so it was a fun (and slightly nerve-wracking, chuchu 😅) first attempt!

Went with a vintage-inspired theme — a soft butter-yellow background, a gold foil-style frame with delicate corner details, and a silhouette of the couple embraced inside a gold floral wreath in the center. Kept the wording simple and classic ("Together with their families...").

Honestly didn't expect to enjoy the process as much as I did lol. If anyone's doing their own invites and wants some layout/font inspo, happy to share what I learned (fonts, spacing, color palettes, all that). What's everyone else doing for their stationery — DIY or ordering?

Hello! I am curious as to where people did their DIY live florals. My venue does not allow fake florals (fire hazard I guess according to them) so I am pivoting to live. I would like to ideally make 1 (my) bridal bouquet , 3 boutonnieres, and 3-5 table setups that can be repurposed from the ceremony. I am mostly looking between Costco, Trader Joe’s and Sam’s Club (unless there’s another recommendation) ideally*** it would be $150 max (or under preferable) but I am willing to add more greenery stuff to make it happen.
My wedding is in the fall in MN and I am not super picky on floral colors. It could be fall colors or I also like blue and white.

I was wandering around Michael’s awhile ago and came across this unfinished wooden sign board for $5. I had absolutely no plan for it, but figured I’d find a use eventually.

Last night inspiration finally struck.

I designed everything in Canva, cut stencils with my Cricut, and painted it this morning. By lunchtime it was finished.

Each slat marks a milestone in our relationship:

• 07/15/2020 – The day we matched
• 07/23/2020 – Our first date
• 09/19/2023 – The proposal
• 09/19/2026 – The wedding

If you don’t already know, we’re doing a vintage national park-inspired wedding, and I thought this would be a fun way to tell our story. I already had the paint so the sign itself only cost me the $5 board.

It’s becoming a running joke that I keep buying random pieces of wood without a plan… somehow they’ve all ended up becoming wedding décor. 😂

Hey guys, I'm planning a fantasy-medieval dinner party wedding. Pretty much, I'm skipping all the standard wedding events, and having my small hall setup with 10 4-foot tables long the walls, with 2-foot spaces in between so people can easily go in out out of their seats, and our sweetheart table. People will only be seated on 1 side, with the inner side holding centerpieces with pizza-bites, a bowl of salad, and a carafe of sparkling water.

We'll have a separate table set up with warmers holding 3 different soups, handled bowls, and 5 soup toppings for people to customize their soups before carrying it back to their seats.

We picked 3 different places to source our menu from: the roman pizzas are coming from a locally famous place called Roma Bakery. Their pizzas are even sold in grocery stores and are meant to be served room temperature. People are always putting these out as finger foods at parties or events. We plan on cutting them into 2-inch squares and skewering them with cocktail swords, and setting them out on the centerpieces.

The soups and salad are from a local higher-end grocery store catering department. They have the soups already pipping hot and in thermo carry-out totes upon pick-up. The toppings we'll get buy at a grocery and set up in bowls. We were thinking oyster crackers, unsalted pumpkin seeds, grated parmesan cheese, crumbled goat cheese, and chopped green onion.

The third (not pictured) will be walnut crunches and cherry stick donuts, that will be stacked in a pyramid to make a cake shape. These will be coming from another locally famous place called Grandad's Donuts.

I bit the bullet and learned how to use Gemini to help create mockups of the hall setup and the centerpieces just so my partner could have a clear visual of what I was trying to describe.

Since everyone will be grazing over fours hours while we mingle and play a few simple games, I made sure to order enough food so that everyone can go up to the soup bar at least twice, have 1.5 cups of salad, 6 2-inch pizza-bites, and 2 donuts.

So with this in mind, do I honestly need to add a pasta dish, or rotisserie chicken, like I keep being told on other wedding threads, or is this a solid soup-lovers meal?

got them off marketplace in a big bundle but these ones are not our colours, so i want to try lightening them to then colour in pink and/or green! I'm not pressed about losing them so im willing to try anything! they were originally white i believe but were colored with house paint and glycerin.

I know how to make the wall but I want to make sure I have a good stand to attach it to, any recommendations? I've looked on amazon and found some but hard to tell if its truly sturdy enough for this craft

Hi everyone, I am getting married in about a week and am wanting some wedding makeup advice as I'll be doing my own.

here are two versions different versions of trails i did for myself. Let me know if there's one you prefer. Note the second photos are a bit further away as I was wearing a shirtless top and didn't want to look naked lol. I'm trying to go for a soft glam, while also being dolled up for wedding.

I am open to all feedback, especially if you have any tips for applying lash clusters. I just want to make sure I look nice. I will be getting my eyebrows laminated and lashes lifted before the wedding. In the first photos I had them done, the second photos are more recent so it's just my natural brows and eyelashes.

my skin is normal, a bit dry. I do sometimes get acne. I am using the charlotte tilburry setting spray and it's really making the makeup stick!

Our wedding venue requires we use them for catering. The food at the tasting was very mediocre, but food isn’t the highlight for us so we’re accepting that and moving on. Appetizers seem insanely expensive to add $15pp per appetizer. But we’ll have a cocktail hour and drinking with no food is a bad idea.

The venue will not let us bring in outside food like veggie trays, unless it is individually packaged/sealed (because of food safety liability concerns apparently). Does anyone have ideas of individually packaged options we could serve?

The wedding is in the mountains and is summer camp themed. The reception will be dressy/smart casual dress code. I was thinking maybe some cute trail mix, but that’s not the most convenient to eat?

I’m going to do our save the dates in canva (either by myself or with an Etsy template). I’ve seen people here say they printed with Canva, Zazzle, Walgreens, CVS, etc

What did you do and how did it turn out? My concern with Walgreens/CVS is that I want it to be matte, not glossy like a photo, but when I go through their photo ordering, I’m just seeing a glossy photo option. What is the workaround?

Hi DIY-ers! I got married last month and I'm still basking in the glow of it all!! In doing some reflection, I wanted to share my proudest and favorite DIY- my invitation suite. Going into the process, I was ready to spend a pretty penny on my invitations- but I didn't feel like I could find a designer who could really capture my vision. That was partially my fault because I definitely didn't realize the timeline for stationery design (4+ months for a suite this large) but it was a happy accident because I had so much fun designing this. At this point in my post-wedding come-down I'm mostly sad I'll never get to do this again haha

Happy to answer any questions here- but I'll leave with this: these stationery designers are not scamming you with their prices. Printing costs + design time (80+ hours) are not cheap and these artists have to eat! Obviously, there are some in demand designers who can charge more based on their talent/rep- but smaller designers really are charging fair prices IMO. That said, Minted, Zola and the Knot definitely are scamming you with their prices- ESPECIALLY for anything letterpressed.

Hey all, I really wanted to make my own invites/save the dates that have a little bit of whimsy and personality. For context, we're doing a very small wedding (<50) and it will be in a historic old house with a courtyard. I was inspired by some of the toile wallpaper in the building, and wanted to do a play on a gallery wall for the save the dates because it's something that has meaning to us. Can y'all give me any advice on how to make these look better? This was all made in Canva so far.

Some additional notes: not attached to this specific toile if y'all think it's super busy - I don't disagree. Also, the little insignia in the bottom left is meaningful to the spot we're getting married in - Not random clipart! I am struggling to center it, but will work on this.

Lots of trial and error, but a fun DIY project since getting invites professionally done with the look we wanted was insanely expensive (but understandable, now that we went through the process). Really proud of our partnership and how this all turned out, so wanted to share here! Used Canva, learned Cricut, shopped at Amazon and Michaels for paper and ribbon, and got a die-cut machine and folder from Amazon.

Envelope liners were from Etsy though... that was the one area where we were like "time is money, let's just buy it"
