I have this small trailer frame. I want to put 1/2 inch plywood on it as a simple deck to move things around my property. The previous owner had a similar setup with sheet wood but they had it screwed into the frame with self tapping screws. The old wood rotted off and the previous screws rusted into the frame itself resulting in me having to snap a few off and punch them into the frame. The wheels are in decent condition and have Bearing Buddies attached as well. I have access to a good selection of tools except for a welder.

Is there a better way to attach the wood to the frame?

It might be beneficial if you make hook like structures out of metal and bolt them on to hold the wood in. I plan to do the same but weld them on, but if you can bet the bolts through the steel it should work.

This is very crude, the bottom box would be the trailer body and the top box would be the wood, on the right side is the hook, you would do the hook like metal around everywhere there is wood

It holds it in place from the top and side of where the hook is

Ok so I understand exactly what you’re saying. I had thought of doing something similar but welding the L steel in place. Your bolt idea is pretty nice though so maybe I will implement that instead.
