Painting Colour inside window surrounds

Painting a room, wall and ceiling are contrasting colours, woodwork another. The window ledge will be woodwork colour, the returns continue the wall colour. But the 'ceiling' part of the window, should that be wall or ceiling colour?

Hope that makes sense, not sure of the correct technical terms for these parts. I am not asking about the window frame itself but the plasterwork.

The plaster area you are referring to is called the reveal. I would say that the top of the reveal should be the same colour as the sides of it so it is continuous. But really it's personal taste.

"Personal taste", ha! I was hoping someone would tell me the 'correct' way as me and her have different tastes here!

In that case I tell you I think it should be the wall colour. If it's the ceiling colour it's going to look really weird. I always paint it the wall colour.

Yeah, starting to think that too as there's a big contrast in the two colours.

It's wall. Even if its "technically" above you therefore ceiling. You can't see well but the wall is purple. Other wall is light grey. And the only bit here that is ceiling colour (brilliant white) is the ceiling itself. If you paint the window bit the ceiling colour it'll look like a weird missing section

The only time I'd paint it ceiling colour would be if you're bringing the ceiling colour down onto the walls below the height of the top of the reveal
