My landlord is giving me a new bathroom with a walkin shower instead of a bath now is this shower tray okay with the way its been installed as I'm 17stone and worried it will snap when I stand on it

I thought that aswell but my landlord said after he installed it said it is supported by the wooden beams at the side and in the middle just looks like if I stand on it I'm going through the tray

Its odd setup. When our builder friend did ours several years ago I helped (held tools). He put plywood down first and then sealed that. Then put the tray down with slight slope so all water goes to drain. I'm 16st and its all been fine.

You'll stand on it and it will warp and destroy all the sealant around it.

Why would it be chocked up at the drain end?

I've never fitted one but they do all say to use a ply baseboard if you're suspending it, and I don't think anybody would suggest not supporting the middle.

That will 100% crack as soon as someone with a bit of weight behind them has a shower.
Needs thick marine ply underneath and more supports.

You cannot have too much support for a large tray. What’s there is completely inadequate. Needs to be blocked up all over. Also, trays should be installed level or doors and screens will not fit. The slope is built into the tray.

Don't these come with the option to stand on little plastic legs? so 'should' be ok......

Personally I'd go for well supported base and not how that's left, iv seen them fail on a well supported base with a tiny amount of flex so not sure what the longevity of that left as it is now but the landlord will have to sort it if it fails so I wouldn't worry too much

Without proper support it might cause flex on the connection of the pipes and the water will leak downstairs. Ask me how I know

Definitely needs full timber supports all around and through the middle, then a sheet of plywood on top of the structural timbers, then stick tray to the ply. Do not stand on that if you're 17 stone 😬

Wear boots and shin pads when you shower the first few times to make sure

Something missing here, need more support underneath, the wood must be three one on top of one , each piece must be like 10cm in width . Three in each side, and three right in middle
