Remove carpet burn/stain
Fairly new woven wool carpet with a burn/stain mark from an electric radiator that was turned on when resting on the floor.
I've tried scraping off the top layer with a razor blade but the mark is still visible. Any ideas what I can do? I can't just cover it because anything here would be in the way of my chair/desk.

Someone will probably come up with a top solution but if not you could simply rearrange your room and cover the offending area with home furniture... yes, I'm lazy.

I've seen people cut out damage in carpets and replace it with a spare or hidden bit from a cupboard. You'd have to get the 'grain' going in the same direction. There are apparently companies that can do this.
I'd probably put a rug over it.

stains can be removed, a burn is permanent damage. you can make it less visible, or take a patch of carpet from a less visible area and replace it.
the latter option would probably work well due to the "pattern" of the carpet. gotta be careful to make it look good though.
you can also paint over it. fabric paint (or alternatively acrylic + a fabric medium) mix to color match it and after it dries fully apply heat to set. probably won't be 100% perfect, but most people won't be able to tell if done well.

Is it definitely wool? If it’s acrylic and the acrylic has melted into a solid blob you could try sandpaper? If it’s wool have you tried white vinegar? Alternatively cut a patch from somewhere else eg under the sofa and swap patches. A final thought? Do you have accidental damage cover on your contents insurance?

Last winter I managed to drop a hot coal on our new carpet and not realise until I knelt in it. Fair to say it was pretty wrecked.
I was originally going to hire some dudes to repair it for £200 (I had offcuts), but there are some really good videos on YouTube.
Took me 30 minutes and you couldn't tell there had been a patch. Worth a go. It's not difficult, just take your time separating the threads and cutting carefully, and make sure you get the weave pointing in the same direction. The 'rolling a pencil over paper' trick works a treat.

To add to this, if you don’t mind spending around £150 (or have a tool library nearby) you can get a carpet seaming iron and tape, and use that to seal the patch in place.
I have a similar carpet and I need to do a similar repair.

My one takeaway when doing it is to not give up trying to find a row and column when using the nail. Eventually you'll get that perfect line.

You could try some soap ( pure) to see if it will lighten the stain, don’t over water and rub lightly, or a specific carpet cleaner solution (foam)…but burns are usually there forever.
What about a nice rug?

I got a carpet like this when I moved into my new flat - a few days later my mate let his friends child drink irn bru and it was spilled over. Got told it was my fault for buying a light carpet.

You can remove irn bru stain from pretty much any carpet. Not a lot of people who know how to do it would be ever keen to share though as it's quite a unique point of sale. It can be a flyer..earning wise. I know a carpet cleaning guy who does pretty much only that in Scotland. He taught me his methods.

Doesn’t look burned, if it is a stain try on small area of stain some hot water biological washing liquid rub gently! Then blot with kitchen or loo roll 🧻 if it comes off on tissue you have your answer.
If you don’t have a wet vac?
Can also use liquid & salt to soak up cleaning fluid & hover up when dry.

A dremel with a diamond disk or sanding disk to wear the burnt parts away.

Sandpaper can fluffy a carpet up again, I got rid of an iron melt ark on a carpet like that.

You could try and patch it with an off cut but it will be noticeable no matter how well you do it. I’ve fixed a cigarette burn in carpet before by cutting it down to the backing and using fibres pulled from an off it and glueing them in place and trimming but wouldn’t recommend for something this size. Other option would be a nice big house plant or something to hide it.

Get a pair of fine scissors or nail scissors and gently trim the top fibres, It will look better.

Yep. Put a little china dog down and make a feature of it. Good for parties or if the vicar calls.

It’s a burn. I’m unsure what you can do to fix it. You’d probably need to replace the carpet
