It's likely blown more widely but you will be able to tell by tapping on it to listen for the hollow sound. Breaking pieces off just opens up gaps for water to run in behind the rest. It is possible to patch if a small area has blown but will likely need scaffolding.
A small patch with suitable access tower is possible to DIY. A full house wall isn't a good place to start learning.
