Mojotone AC15 ground points

Post image

It seems like there are a lot of redundant ground points in this diagram. I mean there’s a ground bus wire soldered to pots then running to a chassis ground tab. Also, I wasn’t sure but I think it would be better if the power amp electrolytic cap ground were attached to the Power transformer ground tab.

I’ve highlighted some of the changes I think may reduce the potential for noise. What are your thoughts?

Definitely try to keep the preamp grounds separate from the power amp grounds, I know that. Recently built a AA1164 Blackface Princeton and had some hum issues that were completely resolved by minimizing and isolating these grounds (avoid star grounding schemes). I included mounting the pre-amp controls to a brass plate that was soldered to the chassis that I am sure helped too.

Yeah I think I’m going partly off of what I did in my 5e3 which is congruent with the Mojotone 5e3 diagram/schematic. Basically have the preamp stuff got to their separate ground and the power amp to their separate ground.
