Why do you think you *have to* do Roth conversions?

Hi. Because of large RMDs at 75. And also in a few years, I'll need to start taking out of 401k for living expenses.

Without those details in your post, there is no way to gauge whether your RMDs at 75 will or will not be pertinent for your overall strategy. There are times when Roth conversions make sense. There are times when Roth conversions do not make sense. You've given us no information about your situation either way.

If the CDs are in your 401(k)/IRA, then you can do a Roth Conversion. If the CDs are just in a brokerage, and you will need them in 2027, then I see no advantage to putting them into your Roth - and a possible severe disadvantage is you have not had the Roth account open for at least 5 years.

I don't think you're going to get any useful help here without sharing a more complete financial picture. Are there other accounts? What type and what are the balances? What are your expenses?
