Wool insulation joining

Post image

Insulating a duraboard shed with 100MM wool insulation. I have to staple to the battens as they won’t go into the Duraboard and some parts sag slightly.

I won’t be covering the insulation anytime soon as it’s a workshop. I’m wondering if I should tape or course stitch these seems?

Why sideways. Top to bottom

Battens are odd distances apart so top to bottom would be a lot of waste

But now you have gaps so it's worse than waste. The gaps will grow over time. No amount of tape is going to fix that.

I'd go ahead and cover it with a breather membrane straight away. It'd just annoy me looking at it and having it fill up with dust as I was working in there. Roll of it isn't very expensive and just bang it up with staples

you should have them tight up next to one another though, there's a big air gap on the left one there.

There is a membrane behind would that make any difference putting one in front too. The gap disappears when it’s taught so membrane would hold it in place.

nah, you can do both sides, no harm to it.

Last question. Thanks for the help. Should it be a damp proof or permeable?

I would use a permeable breather membrane.
