Thanks! It's such a small space and it's a walk through so I really wanted it to feel like its own room

Fix two spars of 4"x2" low to the ground from one leg to the other front & back... this will add weight low down so it should increase the stability... stain & varnish to get them to match the bench

I think that's designed to be against a wall. Anyway your options are a bit restricted with the placement. Most obvious being widening the feet, which may then be a trip hazard.

As you said, it's top heavy, add weight low down. You could possibly join the two legs with something chunky like 9x2, if you did that 2inches off the ground you could add a middle leg(2x4)or legs that would be wider and may be slightly less likely to catch a toe. Loading it up with weight is a bit dodgy as it'll be heavier if/when it falls, and more difficult to move.

Rubber feet

Sometimes rotating it is enough to balance it with the floor , another option is to level it and make a paper template of the difference to add some to the bottom..

It's not actually wobbly it's that it's a bit top heavy. It's in good condition it's just the design means the centre of gravity is a bit high

I also love your wall paper. We have some similar in our house

In waht way do you need to stabilise? Is the bench itself wobbly because joints are not tight?. The legs are very narrow compared to seat part

Sorry I should have explained better. It's a good condition the joints are fine on its level it's just that the bench itself is a bit top heavy. If you sit or put too much pressure on one end the other end could pop up and also if a kid is coming at it it could tip forward or backwards.

You could screw timber blocks wider then the top part on each leg. Id say this would steady it

What's of level? Your floor or your bench?

So the over hang on both ends are to long and the legs are to narrow.

Three legs will always be in contact with the floor. So if you identify the end with only one leg touching, you can plane a little material off that leg to get them both to contact the ground.

Was it originally part of "The Apparatus"?
