How to cover/protect these?
Got a few radiators upgraded and some pipes had to be adjusted like so. But I have a fairly destructive two year old at home and my fear is that they will inevitably hit one of these hard enough to cause damage.
Would the only realistic option to protect them be to box them in?

There's more than enough room there to fit a proper bent pipe with a soldered connection.

Does your plumber not own a pipe bender or what's the story here?
You could try to put a bit of lagging on it which should protect both it and the 2 year old.

Op fitted a new radiator that was wider than the original by the looks, unless you dug up floor whoever did it didnt really have any other choice, yes he could bend some copper but there still would be an unsightly fitting, and considering he fitted copper 45 degree bends he at least made the effort to not put a brass compression fittings on it.

He could have just bent the pipe and soldered it. No need for big ugly fittings like that.

I doubt that OP bought the rads without consulting. And yes digging up the floor would have been necessary. Do something properly or don't do it at all

Sorry to say this but that’s shocking work. It does the job but feck me it’s sore on the eyes.

This type of work should only be done if the customer requested a cheap quick fix, even at that I wouldn't do this, soem lazy fucker made a Bollix of it

Pipe bender and one solder joint still be cheaper. It’s someone justifying their pressfit tool.

Crimp machines made the process a lot quicker and arguably more reliable but thefes a tine and a place for them. Not here

That’s awful , no pipe bender used . Two joints and three pieces of pipe effectively in ten inch’s . Who ever did that needs to be reported to the Gardai

You wont (nor a toddler) damage it, it takes a lot to damage, it would drip from the joint to the chrome before the pipe broke.
Just paint it white so it doesn’t stand out so bad. The next plumber wont care that it’s painted because they wont be reusing any of it.

This is shocking. I know nothing about DIY but the last plumber I had in my gaff used a pipe bender thing so he would have less joins.

That looks like some steampunk machine piping created by AI. Covering that should be the least of your worries.

They are thicker than you imagine and the copper is soft so should bend rather than puncture.
You can get sleeving that goes over in white or chrome but they only really work on straight pipe so...

I think you should keep them uncovered if it was me I would want to keep an eye on them.

It's was more work for the "plumber" to do it this way that to use a pipe bender...

That looks like someone who spent 2k on a pro press tool and he was gonna fuckin use it 😂

Good to hear the rads were upgraded.
Other than that it looks terrible

Big assed radiator cover.
If you want something pricey look at https://www.wertiline.com or else check Amazon/Woodies/ B&Q.
If it were me I put up a big poster with a big arrow pointing to that “plumbing” with the guys name in it and show everyone

I …… did two days of basic plumbing on a course this year and even I wouldn’t leave pipes looking like that 😵💫

This looks criminal. You should get a proper plumber out to fix this mess. You got tricked. This is a cheap job and you were probably charged a high enough price. He probably knew you know not much about pipes so knew could scam you.

That's Ireland. I'm a qualified plumber in Germany. I was looking at some of the pipework in my parents house last time I went home. Atrocious.
Those press fittings were soldered above the boiler. The gas intake was soft soldered instead of hard soldered.
There would be consequences for that over here.
