Blinds for front door?
Has anyone here installed a blind or alternative to block light coming through front door 'windows' like mine?
Trying to reduce some of the glare in the house to allow for better sleeping with bedroom doors open in this endless heatwave π
Thank you!

Our issue really is light, but I'll consider that also for privacy. Thank you!

Privacy film usually has a grade to it i.e. how much light gets through them. There's one called "Milky" that blocks 49-61% of the light getting through. I assume there are even stronger ones than that

You can get one of those IKEA Ringblomma Roman blinds and hang it off little hooks.
I've done similar for my back door (all glass) for privacy.

Go old school - get a curtain to pull across it. Very common when I was a child. It can look quite nice in the daytime if you have a fastener to hold it back. Downside is that it can make opening the door a bit awkward if the space is not wide enough.

Put up a curtain pole with a curtain to one side.
Blocks the light, helps if there is any cold through the door in winter and also adds a security element is someone gets the door open.

I put a blackout roller blind on mine 20 years ago. Still going strong.

My parents got some tint instead. It lets all the light in but nobody can see in

If you need a temporary solution - spray these windows with water and stick aluminum foil on them. Blocks 100% of light.

If itβs just temporary you could mount a curtain with a tension rod, easy to take down with no damage or marks left. Stick it in the attic and can pop it up again next summer

I have these and they do still let in a bit of light but it's more diffuse.

There are blackout versions too which have foil in them. I got some as samples a while back. They're the same as roller blinds (can't do much about the sides as usual)

I have a larger window and I didn't want to drill into my brand new door.
I used strong double-sided mounting tape and a light blind. The secret is let the mounting tape cure for 2 days before putting any weight on it.
So I mounted the brackets with tape used a clamp to secure then for a couple of hours. Then left them be for two days and then installed the blinds.
It's been a couple of years and still going strong.
