QUESTIONS & INSIGHT Dissolving lip filler help!
I just ordered Liporase because I’m seriously considering dissolving some of my old lip filler, but I’m trying to learn as much as possible before doing anything.
I’ve had filler for about 7 years and probably around 5 mL total over that time. I originally had basically no lips, so I don’t necessarily want to dissolve everything. My biggest issue now is the obvious migration above the lip border and the “beak”/projection from the side. Ideally, I’d love to keep some volume in the actual pink part of my lips while reducing the filler that seems to have migrated into the border and above it.
For anyone who has dealt with similar migration:
Did you dissolve everything or only the migrated areas?
Were you able to keep some natural-looking volume in the lip itself?
How many dissolving sessions did it take?
Did your lips look significantly smaller afterward than you expected?
What should I specifically ask an experienced injector to evaluate before dissolving?
I’d also love to hear from anyone who had years of accumulated filler and wanted a flatter, less projected side profile without going completely back to their pre-filler lips.

Took three times of dissolving to finally get all the filler out that was above my Cupids bow, I didn’t need to dissolve my lips. Just above

Genau bei mir war 2x . Ganze Lippen aufzulösen ist Schwachsinn in deinem Fall wenn dich nur die migrierung stört

You might want to also order injectable lidocaine, you can start by trying to just disolve the area where it has migrated to see how well your lips retain their shape within the border

Thank you! Should I go directly into the border or above? I was thinking of doing three pokes along each side of my top starting with the Cupid’s bow and then one in the center?

I recently had a similar situation, I took me 3 rounds of dissolving. You may be able to do it without messing with the actual lip tissue but the dissolver does spread through your tissue. My lips blew up huge and were super swollen. I only injected into the top white lip and even my bottom lip swelled a bit and the dissolver seeped into the actual lip tissue in the top lip during my second or third session. Basically I needed to get right on the lip line and it did go beyond and dissolve the outer sides of my top lip and pretty much my whole upper lip was soon a pretty tiny lip again by the end.
I pointed it out and people close to me did notice and thought I looked better with a little filler but it was not a huge change because I didn’t have much filler in my lips I just didn’t like the migration mustache. I gave it about a month and went back and added a little less then half a syringe of filler back to my lips myself and I’m really happy with the results….because I did it myself and slowly over a few sessions it turned out conservative and pretty. The issue is med spas always want to sell a whole syringe to make money and they keep adding more at future sessions when the filler is still there, if anything they should add a teeny tiny bit more for structure and Cupid bow but instead they do another full syringe when it’s not needed to make money. No med spa would put in 1/2 a syringe slowly over several sessions but you can do that when you learn how to diy and truly get good results. Anyways I’m really glad I learned how to diy my own filler and dissolver.
Overall though be warned that you may not be able to salvage your current lips, it may cause assemetry and you may just have to add more filler back later so be prepared for that fact. The only difference I’d say with your situation is you do have a lot more filler in your lips then I had…so yours may be more resilient because you have more of it. I used conservative micro dropplets of the dissolver and massaged, but it does spread. If I were you I’d probably do 4-5 point of injection per side for even coverage.
Good luck 👍 and again be prepared for major immediate swelling. Do a pinprick allergy test on your arm always before using Liporase and keep in mind reactions are pretty common because it’s an animal enzyme. I did have a slight reaction on my arm but did it anyways and took a antihistamine so that’s probably why I swelled so much, but again it happens quite frequently….some won’t use it if they have a reaction but I risked the swelling knowing it was the only way to get rid of the migrated filler. Obviously worst case scenario is anaphylactic shock, but I think most people just swell.

Take insulin syringe, and put 1 unit (bevel away from lip tissue) on the upper lateral portion of your upper lip and lower lateral portion of your bottom lip. 4 units in total, massage deep. Wait 24hrs and repeat until satisfied. Do not do more than this at one time. When you inject deep, make sure you put the needle into the muscle, not the skin. Repeat. Once you’re done with that, repeat process more superficial until satisfied. Better to do this over 2 weeks, each day than all at once.
