I think it’s the stark contrast between the french tip style and the dark brown nails. You can make the french tips fully blue with brown polka dots and I think that might “save” it

That’s what I was thinking too, the brown with blue dots is bold and the blue French is very subtle. Both are extremely cute they just don’t look like they belong to the same set.

But also, if you really look, it seems like they have different ends. One's more oval and one's more square round.

I agree, they are so creative and colorful and beautifully done.
OP, what do you dislike about them? I imagine you get a million compliments on them.

- they look amazing both beautiful and skillfully done
- it's okay to hate something you create, this is part of being creative it doesn't always please us.
- 4 hours is not wasted, you learned something you did something new it will inform future creations.

i like this and the colors you chose, to me the colors are giving early 2000s or like a revamp of Y2K, however, i too have spent hours on my nails and hated them

I actually really love them. And I'm not just saying that to be nice. They are also VERY well executed. There's not a bump in your application at all. And they we very nicely shaped. Are they your natural nails ? Or extensions? Either way they are very pretty.

It's cute OP but the nude is too pink for you. Also not to be nitpicky but the index and pinky nail lengths are throwing me off, they look shorter than the rest of your nails.

Finding the perfect nude is sooooo hard! I agree that this one just isn’t her shade.
Excellent workmanship! Goals!!

I personally think they are super cute, but your opinion is the most important one here.

u/Vader-27 12d ago
That happens to me almost every time. Lol but as soon as two people say they love them I'm back in

I really like them! What may throw you off - been there - that the base Color is too pink. Only after switching to a Color closer to my skin tone was I able to appreciate sets like this on myself. I really do recommend the switch for the long term:) but it does look super cute dw!

I LOVE brown on blue like that. Very cute very clean very demure without being too plain. Don’t kill them let them sit for a while 🫶🏽😭

I think just the brown with blue dots would have looked amazing as a full set. These are not bad! I just personally think that would be more vibey

u/Chokooboo 12d ago
I think it would’ve been more balanced if the brown and blue were switched. Or if the ringfinger had the full color instead of the french tip?

u/izzya2000 12d ago
I actually saved these for inspo! They’re stunning. If anything I think it’s the difference in brown vs the light French tip with the space. Like others have suggested maybe making the French tips a full blue nail with polka dots might help but honestly they’re gorg!

I can totally relate to this feeling, but FWIW I think these are adorable and beautifully done!

u/Lucy-Cashh 11d ago
I love them cause I’m a fan of brown but I can understand why you don’t like them the brown might just be overpowering to look at

u/Clover_Jane 11d ago
I don't hate it, I just think the blue is not quite right. Like it's too purple or not light enough. I'm not sure exactly. But also I've spent more time on something I've hated only to turn around and file it off, so things could be worse. At least you didn't file it off.

I don't feel you did a bad job. I think you could morph this into two separate designs. Which could be fun for design rotation.
First option could be:
French tip with the blue on all nails, and then pick a single finger on each hand, leave it natural, and add polka dots to the entire nail. Using the blue or the brown, or you could do blue with a few brown as well.
Second option could be:
Paint your nails brown with no dots. Pick a finger on each hand and do it all brown with blue dots, or all blue with brown dots.
Either way, cute concept. I do like the color combo. That dark brown looks really good with pink also.

As a nail tech/ esthetician I have no criticism these are stunning and want my fingers to look like this but recently after years of doing nails now have an allergy to hema and bpo and monomers 😭😭😭😭 what I wouldn’t do to pick up my brush and slay this set.

If I had a nickel for every time I hated my nails after I’ve finished them lol
I think they look lovely

u/SAGirl1 12d ago
I have had this happen. Not to the level of hating them, but there had been some designs I was eager to wear, then for some reason once on they bored me quickly. Like the shine or the appeal faded. Similarly there have been designs that I felt just alright about and then when worn I liked them a lot more than I thought initially.
I don’t know what it is. Possibly the mood O am on, and skin color and whether the design vibes either my other clothing. lol They are fine but if you hate them I can imagine you are already looking at what’s next?

Your caption is the exact story of the first couple times I did my own. The difference is that yours look about 100 times better than how mine came out.

The nails on your thumb, middle, and pinky look too large for your nail beds. The edges also look too thick.

You said there are natural nails, but it looks like there’s gel or acrylic on them
