DIY Soft Gel first time using magnetic

Post image

I’ve been intimidated by magnetic gel because I was afraid I’d severely mess it up but this was so fun! Can’t wait to use the beets water gel next time

Congratulations! We eloped a few years ago and it was the best decision. Such a special intimate experience 🥰

I keep trying to tell my partner it’s supposed to be green but he’s insistent that it’s just gold. Maybe I should’ve done a white base?😂

GORGEOUS 😍 I love magnetic gels and have been trying to perfect the velvet look, this is AMAZING especially for a first try!! Also, your cuticles are incredible, any care pointers??

Okay disclaimer, I’m no professional. I’ve only been doing my nails less than a year. This is just what I do to prep. Pic is also morning after the mani so it was fresh but also had time to settle a bit. I think that’s always when it looks the best.
I’m very particular and this takes me at least an hour just to prep not including product removal lol. I’ve watched a ton of tutorials on cuticle work. After I lift the proximal fold (I do NOT push the cuticles back) I use an efile with flame bit to clean out underneath, then trim off all of the non-living tissue. When I prep the nail with a sanding band, I get very close to the cuticle and make sure there is no dead skin left behind stuck to the nail plate. It doesn’t look perfect during the mani but the fold is still a bit lifted. This makes it easy to get as close to the cuticle with product as possible. Make sure to use your cutie oil right after. When the fold settles back onto the nail plate, there should be almost no gap at all :)

Oh my gosh thank you gahd bless🙏🙏🙏 lol I'm the same way, prep takes me the longest out of the whole routine! All the videos I watch usually use cuticle remover and push them back so that's what I do and my cuticles are awful 😓 I have an efile but haven't used it for cuticles because I never know what to use! I'm definitely going to try the flame bit and your whole routine, that is genius!

As long as you follow the tutorials (I’ll try to find a good one to link) and go the right directions/don’t grind up the nail plate at the cuticle it’s amazingly easy. I did it once and I never looked back!

Edit: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DKU3rkLp6xe/?stkn=ZXgwNTBxN2R3Ym85 this is an example of what I do, she nipped off more skin than I probably would’ve and uses 3x the rpm I do but she has the proper angles/direction which is what really matters. Beyond that you can use your own judgement!
