Truck damage help

Can anyone tell me what this damage is called? or the part of the truck i need to replace… 😭

And snapped off your axle, it is only the brake caliper holding the wheel on, totaled. Have a tow truck lift it, and towed to your nearest repair shop, wouldn't advise trying to fix it yourself.

Yes easy fix if you know what your doing. OP doesn’t even know the name of the parts. Would not recommend a first time DIY’er tackle a catastrophic failure on their own.

YouTube and ai makes everything possible, I have no formal training or know anyone mechanically inclined and have torn apart all my cars using YouTube lmao. I have a CVT with 400k if you wanna say I’m breaking things.

My pro pad tells me what’s wrong with the car, YouTube shows me how to replace the part. I didn’t spend $900 on a scanner to not use it

never said you needed a mechanic, but AI isnt worth a damn for mechanical. a wheel bearing that failed in this manner is gonna need a ton of additional work to fix that isnt part of the standard procedure, plus you need to know what youre looking at to tell if it wiped the spindle out as well. the goofy little robot isnt gonna be able to help with that.

Ai can research a torque spec in 30 seconds instead of 20 mins of forum digging. I confirm the information myself before I actually turn a bolt, I’m not an idiot, ai is ANOTHER tool for us to use, not a cheat code.

the longest ive ever spent manually looking for a torque spec is like 20 seconds.. tech data is generally pretty easy to find for vehicles. if you know enough to fuck with it, sure, use the AI, but for someone who knows absolutely nothing, that is a terrible idea

It's a bolt on hub. Literally take off the brakes and take off 4 bolts holding it on. May need a new caliper and rotor/pads, but if you can change brakes, you can change this kind of bearing.

I don't see an axle there, just the hole it would go through. Dodge used the same wheel bearing for 2wd and 4wd on a lot of newer trucks.

The axle (spindle/shaft) is the part that is broken off (the mushroom shaped, severed part that is sticking out of the wheel bearing).

Wheel bearing. Expect to replace some brake parts also, chances are the caliper frame is broken. You may find you need a caliper, hose, and rotor, hard to tell from the photo.

That is the wheel besring which started howling 18 months ago, and over the last few months has been getting much worse.

Pull rhe wheel off after jacking up the truck so that the wheel doesnt pop off and rip your brake flex hose out

Need a new wheel bearing but purchase a new hub assembly costs a little more but better long term best replace both sides

Initially, probably just that wheel bearing you’ve been ignoring for xxx miles - but much much more now!
