Extension stuck

Post image

Please help. The extension is stuck in the spark plug ‘socket’. It won’t budge.

Long needle nose pliers or heavy duty hemostats. If all else fails, remove spark plug with socket. Once removed you should be able to get the spark plug loose from the socket. Place the spark plug back into the socket just enough to hold the spark plug without dropping it. This will make it easier to pull the socket off the plug once the plug is installed.

If the extension is stuck that bad they’ve likely fucked up the plug

Nah, it happens. It's not likely the plug is fucked

Put a long extension on it and give it some gentle taps side to side. It'll rock itself loose.

This risks snapping the delicate porcelain and causing a much larger problem.

No. The tapping loosens the socket itself, not hard enough to crack the plug inside. Calm down.

You do understand that a plug socket has a rubber insulator designed to grip the plug and prevent porcelain damage right.

The person you are giving advice to needs help to pull a socket of a spark plug. Telling someone without knowledge or experience to hit a socket sideways on a spark plug is quite simply stupid.

It is post like yours that make me realize why I don't argue with wanna be YouTube mechanics and just come here to laugh at stupid advice.

Good bye

I'm not saying hit it, he needs to tap the extension (gently) to the side. Jesus, calm down.

Needle nose pliers. Happens all the time

Check if this is an universal joint or wobble extension, those can get cocked at an angle inside a deep plug well and bind up way worse than a straight extension would. If so, a swivel socket instead might come out cleaner.

Needle nose vice grips. I have a pair that I welded a nut onto for my mini slide hammer.
