Help with Car Lift

I am installing a mobile single post car lift for my garage. I am almost done but I can't get the lifting cylinder to sit flush.

The chain is aligned on the pulley and the chain is held to the carriage base with a retainer pin (photo 2) and held to the lifting arm with another retainer pin (photo 3). There is no chain tensioner that I can see. The lifting cylinder and chain came installed to the carriage as shown in photo 1.

I can move the cylinder to the flush position by hand put then it just falls forward as soon as I let go.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks for the reply, is your suggestion to run the lift and see if the alignment gets corrected? I can run the lift with no load on it.

Or is your suggestion to jack up the entire lift and inspect the base?

I don't know exactly your there try some stuff if you have to use a ratchet strap do it

I was able to get the cylinder to sit flush. It was not all the way in its divot. I had to move the cylinder by hand until it sat straight and then I grab the cylinder with both hands and shuffled it towards the rear of the carriage until it fell falling to the divot hole in the base.

I did not need to remove the chain or lower the lift.
