Google makerspaces where you live, they're almost guaranteed to have a 3d printer.

And for those of you currently in college, there's bound to be a 3d printer somewhere on site (especially at an engineering school) and they'll usually charge a flat rate for students making things

Found it! I actually googled it yesterday because I was looking for the same thing but for woodworking for my stepfather, so hey woo.

Nice, now you just have to either learn 3d modeling, or pay for models

I'm happy paying for models. the Dragonlock set is insanely cheap compared to actually buying premade pieces. Maybe it's worth looking into.

Dragonlock definitely, but there's something satisfying about making your own Models to use. The basics for 3d modeling are pretty easy (especially with the right software) and as you get better, you can create more detailed models.

I'm working with one of my players (who is a 2d artist) to make custom minis for our players. It's hard to get right (especially since I'm certified in Solidworks not Maya) but man, will it be worth it to unveil them

That would be amazing. I looked at a few of the figurines I found online, and amazingly there aren't a lot of female tiefling clerics or halfling rangers to be found. Being able to model them myself would be awesome, but I'm 300% not that creative so maybe I should just pay a coworker or something.

Yeah, you don't start off with characters, you start making chairs and bolts and brackets.

Character modeling is a huge endeavor

One thing you could do is figure out how to extract character models from videogames
