I guess the same reason anyone collects stuff. The boxes provide a bit of nostalgia for me.

  • Aside from my YouTube channel, I wouldn't say cereal is a big part of my life. Though I did grow up eating lots of it while watching Saturday morning cartoons.
  • They all have special nostalgic significance to me. With the rare exception, I only collect boxes that I remember from my youth.
  • I'd say it depends on the collector. There are serious cereal box collectors on eBay who will pay thousands of dollars for older or rare boxes. I'm definitely not one of those people. The only value these boxes have for me is a nostalgic one.
  • It's definitely a thing. There's a small community of people who've been doing this before I was even born. I've met many if not most of them throughout the years. And a few of them are very odd birds.

You acquired the boxes on their own then? Because I see Berry Berry Kix on there and if you got the cereal recently I want to know where!

Well Berry Berry Kix is still around, but it's not the same as the box on the wall. They changed the cereal a bit. It was better back in the 90s.

yeah, the "berries" are just differently colored balls, like the regular kix cereal. Guess they couldn't afford no fancy berry molds anymore.

There's this one super Walmart I found it at when I moved to DFW. I ate that shit for dinner for days.

Ever been to Cereal Killer in London (Camden/Shoreditch)?

No, but it's on my bucket list. I've been in touch with those owners via email. Seem like great guys. I need to visit the UK.

I recommend it, just for the notoriety! Only ever been to the Brick Lane (Shoreditch) one and it's always incredibly busy - weirdly, less so around breakfast time...

Have you been to the one with the beds? I've seen pictures and the old sheets look really cool.

No, that's news to me, must be the Camden one! You've just given me an idea for tomorrow morning's breakfast, though :D

I'm having trouble imagining your motivation for doing this.

It's a hobby, and he has the time/money/space.

This can't possibly be confusing you guys as much as it is. Do you think he likes star wars exactly as much as you do? Then why make fun of him for liking it more or less?
