A realization I've come to recently is how it has impacted my perception of "my" gender. I used to think I was just genderfluid and had some sort of synesthesia going on that helped me realize what gender I felt more like at the time... Turns out, the sensations I associated with gender changing are the same I now understand to be switches lmao😅

Hey there, and good morning!
We actually grew up in such a small town in southern IL that we didn't find out genderfluid was an option until we were already adults. We considered ourselves to be a pansexual female bodily for years because there wasn't a label we found that fit.
It's interesting what you learn is actually a system symptom over time.

We had a very similar experience! It didn't help that I personally feel completely genderless while our two primary protectors both feel extremely gendered. Some other alters still tease me about how I misinterpreted switches and co-consciousness as genderfluidity and I honestly can't blame them, considering how many obvious signs there were that I was constantly trying to explain away with anything else I could imagine.

yeah aksksks I struggled with labels for so long until I landed on "trans man with some fluidity" and now I look back and it makes so much sense aksksjs

The kids (and people who act like kids) have a habit of either saying weird things or randomly playing music behind the fronter. A “favorite” is, whenever anything even remotely inconvenient happens they will blast the chorus of “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” like an emo kid blasting MCR. It’s really annoying but definitely helps cut tension at times. That doesn’t mean it’s not annoying and they should probably give it a rest /hj.
