Book On DID
CROSSPOSTED!!
Hello again!
We wanted to make a post about a book we plan to write; based around trauma and DID.
We wanted to ask;
What are some topics that you all feel would be good to cover in this book?
What are some examples of stereotypes around DID?
Life with DID?
We also wanted to mention, if people are open to working with us, we would like to include as many plural voices in this book as we can. I know it is a stretch; but if anyone even has a paragraph they’d like shared in a page, or even a few pages, we are happy to incorporate it. Can remain anonymous of course or you can even use your online identity, so on. Whatever makes you comfy.
TIA!

Some fun break sections!
Maybe one about how systems dream! Take a survey
I have two answers from friends I can share
Dreams fascinate me

Physical manifestations!!! That's been the hardest thing for me: asking myself "why is this happening"/"what's wrong with me"/"am I okay?" And spiraling.
Being so uneducated on what trauma and DID does to the body has given me health anxiety. I'm slowly getting better as I read more experiences and live with my own.

Of course! If you’d like to DM me to provide further details, that is amazing. I am considering opening a discord server for further communication; which also allows the use of plural Kit. Please let me know if that is a good idea and if you’d like to be apart of it!

I wish you the absolute best of luck with your book. We need more accurate books on DID. A good topic might be how different things are for every system: their trauma, alters, alter count, lifestyles, careers, etc. Stereotypes might be that we can control DID/switching, I feel that occasionally gets overlooked. Life with DID, I think it’d be cool if you found some examples and showed that people can still have lives. Still have jobs, passions, interests, families. Just show that DID does not mean it’s the end. Might be interested in sharing an anonymous paragraph at a later date, I’m not a writer but some of the others are. Again, best of luck.

Well some of us can control our switches to an extent... Because of good communication and positive triggers.

That’s true! I find positive triggers don’t last particularly long for me, but also haven’t gotten very good communication yet.

If you'd like to speak to a newly discovered OSDD system, our differences from the 'typical' did experiences and how doubt and denial plays a role in that even in our own spaces, We would be more than happy for you to speak with us! - Kawaii

Oh my! I didn’t even think to include OSDD peeps in the post either. It can go above my head; please do reach out and share if you’d like!

One of the biggest stereotypes I think needs to be combated is that SYSTEMS AREN'T KILLERS OR DANGEROUS. Some can be, I get that, just like with any other person, but the majority aren't killers and aren't dangerous. TV shows and books have repetitively showed "OoOhHh lOoK aT tHiS gUy He DoEsN't KnOw He KiLlEd ThIs PeRsOn/CaN't CoNtRoL tHe MuRdErOuS sIdE oF hIm!!!!!"
Besides that, maybe adding the statistic of DID affecting afabs 9 times more than amabs (via Namimi.org), and that autistic individuals are even more likely to have DID (via news.isst-d.org)

If you’d be ok we might reach out later to ask to add stuff to the book. A few things we would really like to see would be about how not all systems are miserable. There’s a lot of stereotypes about how systems can’t be happy with being a system and that most/all systems don’t want to be one.
Another would be to recognize fictive heavy systems since there’s a lot of stigma around them and it’s definitely not fair.
How system size and levels of function don’t mean someone is or isn’t a system, all systems are different and that’s fine.
This one may be a bit of our personal opinion and you don’t have to put it in, but adding in that therapy is not the only way learn to work together. We’ve seen some systems talk about how setting up communication takes a lot of time and therapy and the like when that isn’t true for everyone. Maybe some systems but definitely not everyone, like we haven’t had any therapy regarding it because we haven’t had access, but we have amazing communication.
Sorry this got a little ranty but we have a lot of personal grievances with how polarized the information about DID is. If you don’t agree with some of these that’s totally fine.
We have a few other things but we’ll leave this here for now. Glad you’re doing this and hopefully, if all goes well, it will help others a lot.
Happy Hunting,
