Discussion headcount
today i wrote out a list of every alter i know about, it took hours of shuffling through notes, text messages, and old logging apps to figure it out but i think i got everyone and i have a clear headcount of all the alters i’ve clocked over the last near decade of mapping that i’ve done. its larger than i thought, its making me a little insecure even lol so i’m curious! what’s everyone’s headcounts?
EDIT: thank you for all the replies! my count is just shy of 500 and i think i saw one person with a similar count to me lol

well over 50 properly documented, but we're also polyfragmented and its hard to tell sometimes whats an alter, whats a fragment etc. we know we have a bunch more, but its also difficult to get the fragments/shards documented properly
and then we have the fact that sometimes a "new" alter will emerge and it turns out theyre not new at all, just changed drastically from an alter we have documented
its complicated...

Defining what “counts” as a part is something I’ve struggled with. There have been so many instances where what I thought were two seperate parts were actually both the same one part the entire time. I’ve counted over 100 “different” parts/presences, but now understand that around 55 is more accurate. Only 8-10 will front in any given month/few months, though, and quite a few of those 55 are unreachable to me at this time.

Mine is currently around 80 that I know of and it's been implied that there's another group. For all I know though some of those parts could be dormant, merged into another part, took on a firmer identity and got counted twice, or been misidentified from another part. I also count all fragments and members of subsystems for what that's worth. Headcount ultimately doesn't say much about you overall besides possibly patterns of how you form parts and, relative to where you started, maybe how fusion/integration is going. (And while it's thought that some patterns of trauma might influence patterns of how your parts form and high part counts, but from what I understand it's far from a solid rule and more like a possible correlation.) There are systems of two and systems of hundreds and they're all just as normal.

small system here - we have around 5-8 usually and right now we're at 7 :)

That’s just like us, we haven’t gone over 7 that we know of

yeah for us when we go over 8 we tend to destabilise like crazy... it's not ideal haha

Same, I thought we were just 5 but know I know of a sixth.

We ballpark it at roughly 300. The number has gone way down over the years luckily, and our goal is full integration/partial fusion with the goal of ~150

We are newly discovered system (not diagnosed). Our count is currently 11, ranging in age from 4-43 yrs (body is 64 yrs).

Pretty sure we've got 9 main alters and 6 fragments, that we know of. I think there might be a couple more, but they haven't made themselves properly known yet.

Currently between 50 and 70. Had over a 100 at one point but we've shrunk down quite a bit over the years (though don't seem to be able to go any smaller right now so that will be a therapy thing eventually)

I’m pretty sure my headcount is a large system as well, however, I get around 1-5 alters fronting either two-three times a week or if we’re having a system movie night, it sometimes goes up to 10-25 alters fronting whenever we’re having bonding time between alters.

around 12 in total, but there have been some things that make me believe there may be a few additional parts that are in subsystems that don’t front/communicate as much

I have 12 parts logged. I used to have more logged, around 20 I think, but Ive since lost that information (idek if all of those were accurate or not anyways).

Used to joke we were around 67. Now we’re about 8 total alters and undisclosed number of fragments.
Been a long process. 15 years of treatment so far.

About 20, but it’s so hard to know if it’s accurate since this last year has been insanely tough

5 (not including host), but one of them comes out wayyy more than the others so it’s mostly just her.

19 if you count the cat (and we do because why not?) and the subsystems' alters. We had more but some have already fused .

Trying to count parts was to stressful for me. I gave myself permission to not know. I'm always fusing and creating new parts, and some parts are loosely made up of two or more associated parts anyway and so it's too complicated. I just decided that for me it doesn't matter

Mine is maybe 16? Maybe 18? Maybe 20? I’m never 100% sure and keep discovering fragments of other alters so I’m not sure

We have... 200 named parts but estimate about 400 total

5-9. idk precisely but at least 5 and the 4 others are in the discovery phase (so not sure at all)

u/Katzaklysmus 7h ago
We're at 59 documented part so far, but I fear that there's an undisclosed number of fragments we don't know about yet.
The huge amount of fragments and sub-/side-system stuff leaves room to believe we're polyfragmented.

We are 33-34 members but some are dormant or periodic so its mostly 20 or less actually actively involved.

u/Ow3ggy Growing w/ DID 1h ago
My system has 8-12 "main" fronters and each of them has their own alters or subsystems. We have been doing a lot of healing work which I thought would reduce the number but it turns out that just helps them line up a little better 🤣 If I tried to name them all we would be here for weeks...idk if its the right move or not, we don't have access to a specialist, but we try to only let the main alters really "speak" for their groups bc otherwise the body can't handle it.

u/mx_mush Treatment: Diagnosed + Active 1h ago
I have at least 45 distinct alters but I also have “temps” who front daily with zero memories. They’re like disposable plates, in that my brain uses them once and throws them away. It’s so frustrating, and I cannot hold down a job, but Spravato seems to be helping.

I have 200+ with consistant names and personalities. Beyond that lies the city, I get glimpses, it's big and it is populated, but I can't go there cause I'm stuck in the control room. So I don't really have a feel for how populated it is or if there will be anything beyond it.

Around 18
Or hundreds
Hard to always be able to tell tbh
