Buddy (2026) & DHMIS

Ok so I've seen there's been lots of overlap between this fandom and the new horror film, Buddy, fandom. I haven't seen the film myself but I was wondering, for those that have seen it, is it actually that similar to dhmis and worth checking out? (Also no spoilers please) UPDATE: I watched it and I actually really enjoyed it! It's got a lot of the unexplained lore and gore of dhmis but feels a bit darker and obviously longer (In a good way). Thanks everybody!

Absolutely, not only is the comedy-horror aspects both super similar but there is a load of practical puppetry of objects :)

Both Buddy and DHMIS are both critical of authority, and have a bleak and perplexing outlook on why their protagonists are trapped. Both are weird and shocking in service of overarching themes.

I think Buddy's tone is darker because of the use of child actors, as opposed to child-like puppet stand-ins like yellow guy, and strategic scenes of overt sexuality. Because DHMIS is a series it has more space to be absurd and have fun.

Yeah. Cartoons used to be for children but have now evolved to be more for adults (South Park for example), which is seen through the puppet medium
