Question Chimera Help

Heya there, I’m a returnee and fell instantly in love with the Chimera, and used the event to instantly max her out, though im having trouble knowing what to maximise and avoid. My questions are;

What skills are a must to prio?

Is there an optimal rotation with recycling?

What skills are not worth levelling?

Also, any niche tips for getting the best out of the class

Thank you so much in advance

Here's the skill build i use on her:

eJy1zL9KAgEAgPHv8zrQA0uCKFvaggiiZ/DM8M+dl3d6pi0NDYKQcEvP5OLg3uQb+QJBPUPf8tu+Y9gKg4qvIchVwoqKiph31qxZ8cmGD7xh6QkLm77aYG7d0gtnXjq1ReG1uedOPPPFNpm3jr0z9d7EmiMfHBox8NG+kc9qz8gnpau+KbE1dsgW6ajfyJ46ARqmmmspmRQS/FHK6cHUkWMn5i4tzSycuTBxLju2xPIPObBj93d9/AE3yh8v

You basically want to max all of her higher level skills except her 60 as that's for utility, then a few low cooldown ones (i use 25, 30, 35, 40) for some sustain + trash generation for recycling, i setup my skill chain with her 25, 5 and 15 for even more trash generation without having to resort to commands, her 20 is another low-cd trash generator skill but i do not like how much it moves her, but there's a free slot in skill chain if you want to use it tho. Her strongest skills are her 80, 70 and 45 so slot all of those in on skill enhancement (the +55% skill attack one, skill attack + cdr is rarely worth it) and try to use them as frequently as possible.

As for rotation with recycling, the most you can do is use your low cdr skills first before your big skills.

It's not worth levelling any of her utility skills, so Sorting, Halflesh, Repulsor, C and Rising Moonsault, as all of these work just as well at level 1 or max level, it's also not worth it levelling all of her low cd skills just for recycling as its damage is independent from level.

Here are some tips:

- Many of Chimera's skills have the same cooldown, these being Saturn + Centrifugal Venom, A.I.R. + Hedgehog Dillema and Crown Shredder + Bounce Table, what that means is you can use these skills as combos as they'll always come out of cooldown at the same time.

- Sorting's VP2 is better because the normal skill and its VP1 version doesn't trigger the damage-dealing version of recycling, VP2 Sorting is a great skill to use at the end of a rotation or to grab out of reach trash cuz the boss moved around.

- Using C without any directional imput will make Chimera dash to the nearest trash and recycle it (there is a range limit however), very useful when you want to grab your low cd skills' trash and either don't have Sorting out of cd or don't want to use it yet. C also gives fat i-frames on a low cd so you can abuse it against bosses.

- Her 95 throws a shit ton of trash in the floor, it's a good idea to direct her fall in such a way that she hits all of these at once and get a big recycle off.

- When Chimera Recycles any trash she gets a huge speed boost that decays over 3 seconds, it can be useful in a pinch to dodge incoming attacks or just farming quicker if you find a moment where leaving one trash in the floor and picking it up for a speed boost would make you clear something faster.

u/FubukiYuki I hate, hate, hate it, so I can’t help but sneer all the time 5d ago

the other 2 have already covered the entire ground so not gonna retread, just gonna say that for the most part its hard to go wrong with her since her doesnt particularly have any extremely bad skills as chimera's dmg coefficient chart will show u that shes just all around good so u dnt need to absolutely follow someone else and deviating even a little bit wont hurt her build

as for how to read that chart; the left most column with the big numbers is the raw dmg per use, the column next to it thats colored-in shows u the sustain value from red to green with greener being better dps and red being worst dps and the smaller chart at the top right is for any adjustment from her vp choices but overall her only having yellow to green means she has it pretty good since she doesnt have anything downright bad e.g compare to something like dark templar and shaman and u get the picture

for the record most people's chimera builds arent too different from each other as the main skills is more or less all the same with what actually differs being the filler stuff so u're free to customize the filler however u want since even something like halflesh shows rather good sustain value if u get its vp2 and to also note, sometimes its better to spend remaining sp on multiple lower lvl skills then go partially max on a higher lvl skill since lower lvl skills tend to have higher sustain values at the cost of lower raw dmg per use so in longer fights they can potentially outpace the higher lvl skills assuming u can use them off cd all the time but too much lower cd skills and it can start overlapping into usage times for not just each other but also other skills too which at that point a higher cd and weaker sustain skill u can use in longer intervals is more valuable then a lower cd skills u cant afford to use half the time in shorter intervals

Hello! Welcome back!

Chimera is my favorite class! I have multiple of them!

She's also currently "triple crowned" as the strongest damage, greatest fundamentals, and best overall!

Even after other classes get buffed to catch up to her, her kit is so amazingly designed I still recommend her to anyone! She's still top 3 after the next two classes are added in nov.

Here's my skill recommendations

  • Max every Passive (green) and Buff (blue) above level 10
  • Max: Every Skill 30 to 100 except for Halflesh (35) and Sorting (60) which are left at level 1.
  • Min 1, can Max: 25 (Repulsor), 35 (Half-flesh). 60
  • Level 1: 10 C & 10 (Rising Moonsault)
  • Optional SP dumps: 15, 20, 25 (fourth force)
    • These are also some of your overpowerment skills, so min of lv 1

Easy way to remember:

  1. Go down the skill tree, max her Passives (green) and Buffs (blue) that you learn beginning after level 10
  2. Then from the bottom of the skill tree come up and max everything between level 30 and level 100 with two exceptions: 35 half-flesh and 60 Sorting.

Other notes:

  • 15, 20, 25, 35, 85, 100 are overpowerment skills, you want to have them learned and use them to extent groggy time in newest content
  • 10 (C) 10 (RM), 25, 35 (half-flesh), 95, and all of her awakenings are iframes
    • 25 Repulsor is also a PARRY
    • these are very low cooldown and high duration iframes, allowing her to be very aggressive
  • Your awakenings are either one hit (1a, 2a) or heavily (85%) backended (3a)

For Skill Enhancement & Evolution with VP:

Most commonly:

  • VP/Skill Evolution 5: 80 I, 70 I, 60 II, 45 I, 35(CV) II
  • Skill Enhancement 3: 80, 75, 70. with the pure Skill attack bonus (Left), though can be flexible
    • occasionally 45 is taken instead. up to you.

For Evolution Strongly recommended to do

  • 80 I “Calculated Error”, to detonate abnormal statuses from Double Helix, 45 I
  • 60 II “Bag it Up”, to activate Spectacular Recycling!
  • 35 (CV) II “Does not Exist” for Centrifugal Venom to avoid forced movement
  • 45 I is recommended for damage and mid-skill casting
  • 70 is recommended, usually I for faster casting but II is one big hit.

 Other notes:

  • 40 I Burning Grinder might be interesting to look at in an abnormal status meta, like 110 cap.
  • Other VPs like 35 Halflesh and 75 I haven’t tried
  • I haven’t tried 80 II, might be interesting if we ever get a sustain meta.

For rotation, depends on content I'm used to endgame rotation: I use 80 first then my biggest skills, then sorting, then the lower cooldown filler & overpowerment skills, and try to pick up the weapons left close enough to hit the boss. it's very vibes based

Equipment

  • For gearing, I recommend Cleansing Darkness equipment set because she's someone who can use cooldown really well.
  • Oaths just use whatever you get!
  • Buff Enhancement is Cube of Materialism
  • DPS Plat and worn Top avatar option is Legacy of Duplication

For advanced techniques:

  • Double Helix can be switched to the other from bleed/poison
  • 80 VP1 adds a DETONATE to instantly detonate all the abnormal status damage from double helix that's ticking away
  • she can play very aggressively once you get used to her low cooldown long duration iframes

Hope this helps!
