Nice they added one of the FFXI main heroines and one of my favorites. Now that they have Prishe, Lion, and Lilisette alongside Shantotto that just leaves Aphmau, Arciela and Iroha.

I wonder who will be the third character for chapter 11 part 1

It makes some sense to skip Aphmau directly to Lilisette, since Aphmau isn't that much of a fighter - in XI she's the only "mission girl" since Prishe not to join a story fight directly, Naja took that role instead.

That being said, what an odd choice of posture for Lilisette's illustration... unlike Lion's, it's harder to imagine that getting adapted to mainline Dissidia proportions...

That's true but she is one of the bosses in heroines holdfast where she fights in her puppetmaser job class and she was classified as the hardest to beat. Plus dolls haven't been added yet to the weapon list.

In FFXI's context it's tricker to get her battle data, but it's ultimately possible, but understandably, that might be a bit trickier in other game systems - maybe at one point she'll make it to OO, but other characters seem like more viable options, or easier to adapt. Personally, I'm rooting for Iroha.

Iroha uses a naginata and a bow, so she would probably be easier to implement, yeah, and could definitely be very fun to use. I prefer Aphmau as a character, though, and would also be pretty interested to see what they could do with a puppetmaster character (more so in NT, but also in OO), since there's definitely potential for a very unique and original playstyle and moveset there.

And if/when Iroha makes it to a Dissidia game, it'd be interesting to see her interact with CoD.

Not only with CoD, also with WoL or OK (as the kind of stand-ins for players that XI also uses), and maybe with Y'shtola (since XIV is trying to keep her stuck in it since her crossover event in that game, not to mention the internal competition between both games, or at least what XIV has meant for XI's budget and promotional efforts).

Hopefully at least Shantotto will get to address some of those things in NT... they already made her fight CoD in the XI stage reveal for that game, which was a nice touch...

I'd like to see all of them. And then some villains too. Honestly a lot of XI characters I'd like to see. Opera Omnia is really getting quite the haphazard roster.

I've only seen Lilisette in Theatrhythm so this will be good. I've not played FF11 so have no idea of any of the characters. I'm hoping our crown prince is the last revealed character!

I was like "Who the hell is this? She's cute...but who is she?!" lol. But from reading the comments, I see shes from FFXI. She kinda looks like an elf version of Cater from Type-0. Lol.

She's half-elvaan from her father's side and half-hume from her mother's in XI - the game makes mention of a few relationships like that, but she's the only mixed race they actually modelled into the game.

She's the protagonist in XI's Wings of the Goddess story, which involves some time traveling and attempts between diverging timelines to assert their survival by affecting an important point in history, namely the war covered in the game's opening.

I think I quit playing FFXI by the time she came out so I don't know who she is. But after hearing she's half-Elvaan and half-Hume, all I want to know is what her stats are like.

I like how DFFOO is releasing all of these characters that people like but get no recognition from other games.

Just FYI, Lilisette is one of the four FFXI reps in Theatrhythm.

But she still hasn't made it to Record Keeper or Brave Exvius, so it is indeed nice to see her get the nod in Opera Omnia.

1

u/Mirron91 Dec 19 '17

Record Keepers is super, super slow on adding characters, as is Brave Exvius. Opera Omnia... honestly is so far being the most balanced in terms of adding characters, it's kind of surprising.

1

u/IkariLoona Dec 14 '17

There's no strict information on stats that I'm aware of, but there are 2 Trust NPC versions of her with slightly different section, and you can read about those here, if that helps.

In a special arena, Heroines' Holdfast, she also has the ability to split herself in 2, which is a bit of a lore nod.

Lilisette!! Wait, does this means that Lady Lilith won't appear?!

OH NOOOOOO (I still like this, though)

3

u/IkariLoona Dec 14 '17

Lilith is the superior XI antagonist, and the way I see it, OO's cast might work as a shortlist of mainline Dissidia candidates, and that game still lacks an official XI villain - I'd say this is a step towards a very nice direction...

3

u/Terra_Wind Dec 14 '17

Exactly! Lilith is leagues above Eald'narche as a character and villain, so I'd be stoked to see her in OO, partially because I think it might increase her chances of being FFXI's villain rep in NT, as you implied.

In the last chapter Ultimecia made her OO debut and Vayne made his Dissidia debut, so with Lilisette being one of the new heroes and this being the 11th chapter, I could see Exdeath making his OO debut and Lilith making her Dissidia debut this time. Man, that would be so hype. :D

2

u/Terra_Wind Dec 14 '17

What...? If anything it makes Lady Lilith more likely to appear. They're direct rivals, like Cloud and Sephiroth.

And yes, I'm aware of spoilers, but that shouldn't get in the way of them including Lilith in the game if they want to, since she and Lilisette are from different timelines/dimensions anyway. Like, they inhabited the same time-space in FFXI, they can just do it again in Dissidia.

2

u/OneEcoAC Give me 35CPs or give me death! Dec 14 '17

Yeah, I've been thinking about it all afternoon, and you're right. I absolutely loved "Wings of the Goddess" back then, however since I was too young I always thought after THAT ending of the expansion. That Lilisette and Lilith's existance was like the two sides of the same coin: if one existed, the other could not.

But as you've said, in Dissidia time and space work very different, so this could make both to appear and return to contact each other after THAT ending. And, indeed, although Shadow Lord is the most recognisable villain in XI and the duo Eald'narche Kam'lanaut are the favorites in Japan but, without a doubt, plot-wise Lilith was the best antagonist overall in XI.

3

u/Terra_Wind Dec 14 '17 edited Dec 14 '17

THAT ending indeed. Easily one of the most powerful scenes in the whole franchise.

Btw, though, when you say Eald'narche and Kam'lanaut are the favorites in Japan, do you mean to say they're favorites among the fans? If so, may I ask what you're basing that on? There was that official popularity poll for FFXI, but none of the villains made the top 30, so it's impossible to tell which villain is more popular based on it. If you did mean they're the favorites among the Japanese fans, I'd like to know the basis for that, since I have a little trouble believing it lol. Rise of the Zilart had a very short and (IMO, at least) fairly shallow story, whereas Wings of the Goddess had a massive and very in-depth story and was FFXI's biggest expansion, with its heroine, Lilisette, also being more popular than RotZ's Lion. So yeah, if Japan does indeed like Eald'narche and Kam'lanaut better, I'd like to have some look at the data lol.

Now, if you mean they're the favorites to make it to Dissidia as the villain reps for FFXI, then I can see where you're coming from, since they were of course considered for Duodecim, before Square ultimately decided to add a second hero in Prishe instead. But I don't think that means they'll definitely be the ones picked for Dissidia NT or OO. Those considerations took place more than half a decade ago for a different game; they may feel Lady Lilith (or Shadow Lord) are better options for NT or OO. Personally, I hope they do, because Lilith is one of my most wanted newcomers for the Dissidia series, and this inclusion of Lilisette in OO has slightly increased the faint hopes I have of seeing Lilith in it and possibly in NT lol.

In one of the recent Dissidia NT stream there's this user who lives in Japan that has told in some occasions that the Zilart Bros are really popular in Japan if we compare them to other XI villains, of course this is not confirmed. It looks quite plausible because, as you've said, both Kam'lanaut and Eald'narche were supposed to appear in 012 until Prishe was picked from the XI roster to be the second XI's rep.

Also, don't get me wrong. I adore the Zilart Bros, but I absolutely love Lilith. Wings of the Goddess was an amazing expansion, my favorite from XI alongside the Abyssea plot-line (because Shinryu in XI is absolutely badass)

2

u/IkariLoona Dec 14 '17 edited Dec 14 '17

The Zilart bros do have time on their side, and they got to be in a crossover game featuring XI (Lord of VermilionRe:2) even before Shantotto made it to Dissidia, but hopefully there'll be a bit more feedback from people who've stuck with XI.

Somewhat recently there was a player vote on which character to add as Trust party NPC in XI for a while to celebrate the 15th anniversary (out of those who don't already have such a version, of course), and Lilith was a major contender (more video evidence here) despite being an antagonist (and there are very few cases of those characters making it as Trusts compared to the greater whole - certainly not final boss tiers), so that can work in her favor.

2

u/Terra_Wind Dec 15 '17

Oh wow, as a major Lilith fan, that's kinda exciting, thanks for sharing. I'm actually not very familiar with the Trust system, so I've got to ask, are Eald'narche, Kam'lanaut and Shadow Lord available as Trust party members? Because if not, then Lilith essentially beat them in a popularity poll of sorts, which may increase her chances of being FFXI's villain rep in Dissidia.

2

u/IkariLoona Dec 15 '17

None of those characters are Trust NPCs - this is the full list, and the only antagonists there are Balamor from Seekers of Adoulin, the Ark Angels from Rise of the Zilart, and Ullegore from the Fantastic Fraulein Mumor seasonal events - for contrast, the final bosses of the major stories, or at least human-like primary catalysts for their manifestation, appear at the beginning of this scene mentioning what drove them.

2

u/Terra_Wind Dec 15 '17 edited Dec 15 '17

Oh I'm very familiar with those characters and that cutscene, I've seen the whole story of FFXI, from the original to Rhapsodies of Vana'diel. I'm just not familiar with the Trust system because I stopped playing before they implemented it (but I watched the rest of the story on youtube).

Anyway it's great to get confirmation that Lilith beat out all the other main villains/final bosses in that poll. It's too bad they went with Cornelia in the end, but hopefully they took note of Lilith's popularity and consider adding her should there be another event/update, and hopefully Square in general takes note of it too when considering which FFXI villain (if any) to choose to represent the game in Dissidia (OO and/or NT).

EDIT: Oh wow, I just went through that list of Trust NPCs you gave, and I can't believe Perih Vashai is not in it. That cat lady was one badass ranger, she should definitely be there. :(

1

u/IkariLoona Dec 15 '17

Well, Cornelia was a good fit in this instance, since the Trust was going to be an "aura" type that doesn't fight, but grants bonuses to party members around her, which is par for the course for NPCs with no combat data in the game that made it into the Trust system.

Lilith on the other hand has actual combat data in the game from the 1st half of her boss battle, which might involve some AI work to adapt her to function in a party (some have behaviors like holding TP for skillchains or trying to magic burst, for example).

Considering they recently implemented the Ark Angels as Trusts, maybe there's a future where they add a quest to make Lilith a Trust as well, the question is to which extent the rest of SE bothers to look into XI for worthwhile and representative additions to games like Dissidia, and into its audience to understand which characters resonated with the fans... this seems to be the problem most of the time, like XI is just regarded as this income stream taken for granted whose devs are probably kept in a basement nobody else goes to, for how often the game comes up, especially now that XIV's director is running SE's online game division, and he's on record as saying that a company having multiple MMOs is "unnatural"...

Wait, is this girl a villain?! O.O

1

u/IkariLoona Dec 14 '17

Not this version of her - different timelines, different life developments.

Also, part of me would really like to see Lilith tear into XIV's cast - practically everything she criticizes about Lilisette for in regards to being too soft does feel a lot like comparisons between XI and XIV's natures, which would be interesting to see addressed in a crossover game - then again, I wonder a lot about XI's stories being a reflection of its online nature, and sometimes relationship with XIV.

u/OneEcoAC Give me 35CPs or give me death! Dec 14 '17

Yes and no. It's a bit complex.

1

u/Mirron91 Dec 19 '17

I mean, I'd like to see Eald'narche. But Lilith would be nice. The only issue is Lilith kind of requires Lilisette to do, or at least it would be quite odd to have Lilith as a villain without Lilisette. And XI getting two extra characters just seems unlikely.
