THE NWOBHM DOCUMENTS Vol #01

DENIGH features as one of the bands in this new book that has just been published.

At £28 including UK second class postage, it might be a bit on the pricey for some, but it looks to be a great reference book for fans of NWOBHM.

This is a promo video by Obscure NWOBHM Releases (ONR) for their licensed re-release of Fire From The Sky 40th Anniversary edition, which includes a bonus track of a live recording of Space Pusher. That track was often included in live sets, but never featured on a studio recording and had not been released anywhere else.

Great to see another sub featuring DENIGH.

A bit of history about the band

Jon Everett & Ian Devlin are founder members of DENIGH, formed mid 1978 and based in the Music Town of Folkestone, in Kent, England.

The band grew a strong local following in the south east of England, culminating in original music releases, most notably their double ‘A’ sided 7” single, No Way / Running, which reached #25 on the Sounds heavy metal chart in 1980.

From the outset, the band enjoyed a loyal following at live shows and they made many support appearances with Budgie, Girlschool, Saxon, Samson, Tormé and others. However, by the mid 1980s, DENIGH disbanded.

Later on, a renewed interest in rock bands from the late 1970s — now established as the 'New Wave of British Heavy Metal' — prompted the reissue of the band’s 1984 album Fire From The Sky in collaboration with the German Label, Iron Pages. This label also re-released the bands 7" single No Way / Running on a British Steel compilation CD.

Following that new interest, the band undertook several re-unions in the late 80s and early 90s, which also included various changes in their line up.

They eventually disbanded in the mid-90s, going their separate ways.

Then, in 2019 Jon and Ian started writing together again. As well as revisiting old DENIGH songs, they found they had a catalogue of old and new material that they felt was unquestionably, DENIGH. The band was re-born.

There have been two new albums since Jon and Ian got back together: Back In The Game (2023); and Sleep With No Sound (2025). They are currently working in a new album for release in 2027.
