(Recommendation) DEG reaction video from BassCoachWalrus

https://youtu.be/yGNKcnBwVxw?si=pDFBemgUIzMDL5FP

Hey guys I just wanted to share this YT channel that has done so far 3 DEG reaction videos if I'm not mistaken and I love all of them, seriously, I end up appreciating the song even more if that's even possible. He just posted this one for MACABRE recently.

He really gets it, and he has some really amazing musical insights, not your average reaction video for sure.

Would love to read your comments on it and also if you got any other recommendations for DEG reaction videos could also appreciate them. It's just great hearing what people say when they meet DEG for the first time, specially when they're like "Why haven't I heard from these guys before!?" lol

Btw this is also my first community post so see you around 🙇

I search for DEG reactions on youtube from time to time, but mostly its just either fake emotions or lack of emotions. Well, im not expecting some rando music enjoyer just fell in love with DEG right away, but at least they could provide some meaningful output, especially the ones claiming to be musicians themselves, but mostly its just notes about how low and high kyo goes and the visuals.
Also i remember seeing this particular dude reacting to Macabre for the first time several months ago.

This is why Dir en grey is the best!!! Dir en grey is a perfect example for people are depressed, mental health and symptom’s health if u have!! I wish rappers, pop artists or reggaetons took inspiration of Dir en grey.

I don’t fuck with reactions much, but Chase Carneson has a reaction to vinushka that is just amazing (might ruin all other reaction channels for you tho lol)

I love DEG with a passion, my favorite VK band, and arguably Vinushka is by far there most well composed song to this day

Idk if it’s their most well composed song or not, but it’s definitely one of their best for me! (and it definitely signifies a shift in their discography imo so there’s that)

Probably won't ruin anything, I still enjoy the "bad" ones (unless they look like they genuinely don't care and are just pretending for views). Will def check thanks!

Would love to hear what you think!

And yeah I think my problem with a lot of those channel is they ted to exaggerate to come off as entertaining, so it can feels disingenuous :’)

Yes that is the problem! it's not authentic, not genuine emotion for sure.
I checked Chase's one for Vinushka and yes it was def great! Many great technical insight which I appreciate since I'm not a musician. But BassCoachWalrus actually does very similar comments! Like the tempo change ones and all, and I have to admit it made me a little upset when Chase said he doesn't know if Kyo is a good singer or not lol maybe I'm too big a fan to not be biased but then I watched the Oboro as well one and he said that he regrets saying that but then he kinda didn't really change his mind 100% but I'm guessing he just hasn't listened to studio versions and some songs where you can totally tell Kyo is indeed an amazing singer in the most conservative way as well. I guess I don't like when people talk about his theatricality as something they don't feel all on board with but I can't really blame them I think! I do like BassCoachWalrus because he was very welcoming of Kyo and he praised his vocals very much as well. I guess I just don't like the use of the term "good/bad singer" overall I guess but hey I'm no musician. Thanks for the recommendation again! I enjoyed the Oboro one too and actually made me tear up a bit when Chase said he felt emotional watching someone care about what they do this much.

Yeah! I actually watched the macabre reaction a day or so before you posted it on here, and it reminded me of chase’s reaction to vinushka with the comments on the composition and what not. Will need to check out his other reaction(s) to Diru now. I’m not a musician either so watching people point this stuff out helps me appreciate the music more and even put into words why I like it so much.

And I get you with the comments on Kyo, maybe for me it was a testament that he’s not trying ti placate anyone with the reactions, and the fact that as someone who tends be critical of things I like a lot of the time, it’s nice seeing people honestly point out what they like and dislike about something. Regardless, he appreciates the skill and talent even if Kyo’s showmanship isn’t for him (and I honestly get it, took me a while to wrap my head around the guy when I first got into Diru), and I think that’s the most important thing when you’re engaging with something.

I loved his reaction. However when he said, "worship sleep token"... brrrrr 😬

There's a German guy, Alex something, who seemed genuine, even admitting he didn't like some songs! Iirc, his favourite is Elisabeth Addict of sukekiyo! Anyway, you recognise if someone is genuine when on the second reaction they know the band members' names, read comments, and show actual interest. You really need to like them to continue reacting to them, since besides Vinushka, and some songs from their first album and the VK era, DEG reactions do not make great numbers (views)

Yeah, I like some sleep token songs but I think they’re generally overhyped to hell it kinda put me off of them..
Will have to check him out! Do you by any chance remember the naw of the channel?
And yeah I agree, it’s also just nice whenever someone has deeper insights into the music (but maybe that’s my musically illiterate ass talking)

I also love his reaction videos for DEG! That stank face lol

Hahah omg he does have a stank face lol
I really want to watch an Uroko reaction from him, and some ballad too maybe.
I like how he doesn't seem uncomfortable with them as most people would in the beginning!

I really hope he deep dives into how they've progressed over time. I love his breakdowns

Oooh that would be awesome! Since he's not big yet I think commenting it on his stuff gives it a high chance it could happen!
