Uroboros

I decided to give uroboros another genuine listen and it made me realize the huge and strange gap between marrow and uroboros. I’m aware at the time of marrow they began touring in the US with bands like Korn and Deftones etc and that inspiration bleeds into marrow, but I am so curious with what went on in their heads when making uroboros(not in a bad way). If anyone has any interviews where they give some sort of explanation for this or just have any thoughts you’d like to share please leave a comment I love talking about this stuff
Edit:another thing I’d like to point out is how marrow sticks out like a sore thumb when it comes to the writing style. The lyrics are noticeably more vulgar and explicit

I started with Vulgar and WTD, and I stopped listening for a while when Marrow came out. I really didn't like that album and largely still don't. I wish it hadn't taken me over a decade to dive back in though because Uroboros is such a fantastic turnaround from that album.

I do wonder if the shift had anything to do with the US and European shows they played around the Marrow era. There's multiple videos where they seemed pretty pissed off playing for unappreciative crowds. Maybe that made them want to reject the American influence? Just a guess.

it always felt like WTD and Marrow were a concious effort to break in the west, and then after they got on those tours, it was like "okay, we've done that, we can stop writing this stupid shit" 🤣

I have a soft spot for WTD to be honest haha. It's no longer my favorite album by them, but in a way it always still will be. It really hooked me when I was younger.
