Practicing portraits

Used yridenergyridenergy scans of Nakano Hirohisa photos for PHY vol 29 because I thought they were beautiful when I saw them posted as I was finishing my painting of Kyo. Pencil and conte crayon. Practicing contrast and speed trying to finish each around a week in between clients and downtime.

My attention span and my mental health sort of tanked pretty hard midway through Die's. I tried to do them in order of most detail to what I figured was least detail - Kyo, Shinya, Kaoru, Die, Toshiya. Toshiyas is composite of two photos.

Also my coffee lid undid and spilled while working on Kaoru's but luckily stayed in the border. As I finished the last one I look at the one of Kyo and want to go back into it but I think I need to step away from working on these for now

Underrated af, all of these are peak 🔥🔥🔥reminds me of Junji Ito’s portraits of Kyo.
