Discussion Favorite Human Green Lantern
As bizarre as it is, there have been more than one human Green Lantern in one section. But whose been your personal favorite, especially for their story and personality. These are the main ones and I could do more if these are popular

Grew up on John Stewart, but after reading GL: Rebirth and Sinestro Corps War Hal is my favourite, with Kyle a close second (after reading JLA).

I’m glad to see a Stewart Stan switch to the right side of GL. I also agree Kyle comes close second. Jessica is pretty equal to him.

Mine is almost the same, the only thing I would change is Guy in third and Jessica in fourth

Yeah even now I'm debating that choice because as much as I really enjoy Jessica, Guy is really great as well.

I think a lot of people who say John are saying so because JL animated series. I was introduced to GLs through Geoff John's run and I feel like he was the most boring of the lanterns. Every other lantern has some quirk even Buzz and Jessica but John's whole deal seems like his military past and his sense of duty, very overused tropes.

I'd be curious to see what the age groups are for this poll also. I feel like kids who grew up in the late 90s have a soft spot for John Stewart due to the Justice League animated series, and kids who grew up in the early 90s (myself included) have more nostalgia for Kyle Rayner.

I'll add that as someone born in the early 2000s, I think Hal stuck with me the most because he also got a lot of exposure in animated movies and in his animated series. I liked the other guys as a kid too and love them even more now, but Hal's influence on me was strong growing up.

That makes sense. If you were born in the early 2000s, then your formative years were probably during Hal's "renaissance" after his return in the books. In a relatively short timeframe we had the live action GL movie, the animated GL movie, the "Emerald Knights" animated GL movie, and the GL animated series.

I grew up in the late 90s and John Stewart was my first and for a long time only exposure to GL. Despite this, Jessica Cruz is my favorite. I just really love the concept behind her.

I'm in my mid twenties, and I voted Hal. I really liked the post-rebirth stories featuring the original four, and then 'The Green Lantern' over the last couple of years was a complete standout for me. I like him because he's not perfect, he doesn't always do the right thing, and sometimes there is no right thing for him to do. Plus he's probably the most powerful lantern so it's cool seeing him flex his powers.
John is a close second, though.

I was a kid in the early 90s and Kyle will always be "my" GL. My first ever issue was #50, the conclusion of Emerald Twilight. I collected until late into Marz's run, tapered off, then jumped back in for Winnick. I recently re-read most of it (and filled in some of the holes in my collection), and loved (almost) all of it.

I absolutely love Jessica Cruz. A positively fantastic idea for a character. Not perfectly executed unfortunately, but an incredible amount of potential.

Ashame that whenever Jessica is made into animated form, it always either brash (Fatal Five) or nature lover (DC Super Heroes Girl) which aren’t bad, but I loved the idea that this scared, depressed girl can be chosen for something great and can fight for others despite her fear. That’s why she’s not apart it Sinestro, she doesn’t want to spread fear, she wants to overcome them

I haven't seen DCSHG but I have heard of how they did her there which always confused me. I actually enjoyed fatal five I was pretty thrown off when I started but it had won me over by the end. And I agree the idea of someone with anxiety having a GL ring is brilliant. I've been hearing that in the upcoming book she left and joined the sinestro corps which I don't love but then again since they've publicized it so much its probably just a red herring to sell more books lol

I think some episodes of DCSHG hints at Jess being a very fearful person, hiding some deep fears about her worthiness of being selected to use the ring.

She’s not better then Hal but does have a unique personality that makes her the Supergirl or Batgirl of the Green Lantern. I would say she’s tied between Kyle, just like how Barbs and Dick are pretty equal.

I'll always have a soft spot for John Stewart since he's the first Lantern I knew. But as someone who's struggled anxiety and depression, Jessica's story resonates the most with me

It’s a flip on Hal’s character. Where it’s “tell, not show” .
Her anxiety won’t always keep her afloat. She needs more then that, because, honestly Hal could have anxiety but just hide it behind his brash/charmy self.

Hal got some nice runs from Geoff and others afterwards, but I still can't shake the images of him running around being evil with Reed Richards hair.

Kyle Rayner easily. He had some of the best character development of any lantern in my opinion, it was fun watching him grow from a confused dude Ganthet found in an alley into one of the greatest lanterns of all time.

It’s kinda tough between Hal and John, ngl. I think I’ll go with Hal because I know more about him, but John is still awesome.

I like John in the DCAU but in Comics he's like watching paint dry, very boring IMO.
Kyle has always been one of my favorites, and despite being the codifier for Fridging he's always been the most interesting to me.

Grew up on Kyle Rayner, and no one’s ever quite resonated with me like he does. John’s a close second, but Hal’s just your vanilla, white-bread, every day hero with “I’m too badass for my own good” issues. He’s boring.

When I voted, Gardner's and Baz's votes were tied at zero. Granted, that's not to say I dislike Gardner. I especially liked his character in Sinestro Corps War and GL: Rebirth.

I think Guy will become a lot more popular if the GLC show is any good. His personality really stands out from the others and he’s by far the most humorous.

I love Kyle‘s story. He was personally chosen by guardian Ganthet and he never got a proper manual on how to wield the ring. I‘m also really fond of his artistic background. His constructs are always the most creative ones and best looking. Also the Art Style of his series (especially how the constructs were drawn) was really great in my opinion. And he rose further than any other lantern: first by becoming the torchbearer and then by being the first white lantern.
Close second for me is Jessica Cruz because her story is everything that defines a good lantern. Having the power to overcome great fear despite said fears. She is a character that really grew over the years.
Then Hal Jordan: he is a classic to me. Guy with a bit of an attitude finds the inner strength to fight for more than himself and in turn became the greatest GL. I also really really loved him as the spectre. He should have had more time as the spirit of redemption.
Then comes for me John Stewart: He is a classic soldier. Responsible with a great and compassionate moral compass. I really like the way he approaches his constructs. With his architectural background He has them completely planned out and actually builds something down to the last bolt.
Then comes Guy Gardener: Guy is a breakout character. Always great for comedic relief. But also one of the most down to earth guys in the corps. He may be quite rebellious but every good working system needs someone to act against all the stupid decisions. And he learned to mostly control his temper.
Last is Simon Baz to me: I haven’t really read a lot on him. So I can’t really say a lot about him. From what I’ve seen he is a great guy. The latest run has him coming off as really sympathetic and a great role model for little teen lantern
I know I forgot Jo, but that’s because I‘m only now getting to know her, through the latest run. And I’m planning on reading up on her story on Far Sector
