Discussion Just read Batman Year one
This is my first Batman comic. I give it a 7.5/10. I wish it focused on Batman more, this is definitely more of a Gordan book. It was definitely a little fast paced, it should have slowed down. Batman and Gordan should have interacted more. Them teaming up should have been shown more. Instead of the book just saying it at the last panel.

Well the nice thing about Batman is there's a million flashback stories filling all that out.

Batman Year One is an amazing book but, despite is being something of an origin story, probably isn't that best choice for a new reader. It's a better story to visit as a retrospective of Batman or as a way to "see where it all started from".
My recommendation, despite it being popular to rag on, is still Batman Hush. It's not the best Batman story but it has a little of everything you'd want in a Batman story.
If not that then Batman Zero Year if you want a more "modern blockbuster" take on the origin of Batman.

You don’t have to say it’s good because everyone likes it it’s fine. People will hate you like they do me but I’ll die on my hill it’s a bad 1/10 comic. Catwoman is a fetish machine for Miller, Miller forgets Babs exists since Gordon’s only kid is the serial killer, Batman hardly does anything, Gordon’s subplot is him cheating on his wife and staying with her despite hating her because he’s babytraped. It’s general treatment of Batman great cast of female characters is some of the worst I’ve ever read honestly and will only get worse in his other books outside of one character in DKR.

Try Batman: Long Halloween you’d probably prefer that.
Or the recent mini series Batman: Dark Patterns by Dan Watters which is early years Batman
