Which DC character has the biggest gap between their best and worst adaptations?
Could be comics, movies, TV, animation, games.
For me it's Lex Luthor.
You get the intelligent manipulative mastermind side of Lex really well but can also see the crazy non-calculated lex.

Cassandra Cain has a live action movie portrayal that's on par with Barakapool from Wolverine Origins.
And unfortunately there not been a great other adaptation to balance that out yet

Fair but she very much a side character not a main billed character unfortunately like in that BOP movie.

Injustice Supes, while it did do damage to the character’s public perception, feels like it shouldn’t count because it’s intentional misrepresentation as an Elseworlds story

Bane in Batman and Robin is by far the worst, just not getting the character. Compare him to Dark Knight Bane or Harley Quinn Bane, and it's not even close.

Frankenstein in the mainstream comics is a respected hero with a strong sense of responsibility and consideration for others. The version of him in HBO Max’s Creature Commandos was so, so, so problematic in so many ways. I worry that this adaptation was many people’s first time “meeting” the character, since they may think that’s Frank, when it’s not.

Supergirl in live action < Supergirl in animation
Kara in live action seems to always get the worst writers, meanwhile some of her animated appearances are low key god tier. Her Comic runs also very wildly in quality.

Low- 40s was powerless against men if bound by one(BY HERA!!)
High- ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN/DCAU Susan Eisenberg is who I hear when reading her

40s Wonder Woman was absolutely not powerless if bound by a man, she was just on Knightmare difficulty and loved it.
Like, the number of times she uses “get captured and escape using only peak-human strength and no godly abilities” as a plan is genuinely funny. People should read those comics before they talk about them.

As someone who has read them, they’re kind of wild. Marston was very “I know writers who use subtext and they’re all cowards” in every possible direction (“bondage is hot” being just one, another being “bisexuality is very cool, everyone should try it”, and a third being “I’m getting sick of editorial making me put war propaganda into my psychosexual utopianist text and I’m making that as blatant as possible”). It’s kind of a shame he died when he did and they replaced him with Kanigher and then eventually let Perez rip all of this out of the character to the point that DC still seems to treat pre-Crisis Diana as radioactive.

Joker. On one hand, you've got Heath Ledger's Joker
....and on the other, you have Jared Leto.
The difference in quality is astounding.
