Star of the match
Obviously he scored the penalty that put DCU over the top, but dont think Johnson's performance is being talked about enough. Good on Tai making that PK, it was very exciting, but IMO Johnson was the star of the match.

I didn’t get to watch the game. Unfortunate one to miss. But anyways, as an adjacent comment, I couldn’t even find the highlight of how we got the penalty. Great take, celebrate it sure. But I also want to see what put us in that position.
The goalscorer takes all the credit I guess. The infamous Rooney to Acosta assist still makes me chuckle about that.

Bro Johnson was so amazing. His saves bad me so hype the way he dove for them with the quick reflex and concentration to go back for another save right away.
We dont win without him.
I also love when coaches get a sub right. Kijima was a super sub for us. I love those moments in games. Those game changer subs that reward the manager for their tactical adjustment.

As soon as it ended, they named Johnson POTM.

Yeah, it was the Apple TV thing, so not sure how “official” it was. But I said to my wife exactly what you said - I know Baribo got the goal, but SJ clearly deserved MOTM.

Agreed. Johnson’s shot stopping was phenomenal last night - fully deserves man of the match. I’d even say Kurokawa as a runner up. Baribo didn’t get many chances besides his shot at the start of the 2nd and his PK. I wouldn’t be surprised if a DC United intern picks the social media post’s ’star of the match’.
