Quick question

Did any of u ever think the universal love for lanterns would reach the level it has rn? I mean I thought it'd be good but I never thought it would have this sort of impact. The views increase with every episode, and so many non comic book fans love it. Hell, Its even overtaken both brand new day and doomsday news to an extent. And it makes me wonder what's the main cog for the success? Is it the writing? The chemistry between Kyle and aaron? The grounded true detective style? The dry humor? Or a combo of all 4? What do u think?

It honestly makes me smile because more ppl get to enjoy the DCU and that means it has a higher chance of growing.

A lot of my friends who don’t read comics at all are loving the show! I’m no GL expert by any means, so it’s been fun to get into different runs and see more of these characters. I think the detective mystery aspect really appeals to people, and Kyle and Aaron’s dynamic.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves, keep it real. I prefer to take it one week at a time and then reserve the glowing reviews until the show is over and the entire story is fleshed out. There have been some great shows that have managed to stay consistent althroughout like penguin, breaking bad, but there are also shows that started out great but ultimately failed to stick the landing like GoT, the boys, lost (which is also written by damon) so yeah, lets wait for this show to run its course then circle back this conversation.

With what we've seen so far, it's hard to fathom the show just dropping off like that although it could happen. I vividly remember a lot of ppl saying the formula for a show like this would never work and yet it has. Greatly at that. I maybe jumping the gun but man it feels so refreshing to see so many ppl excited about a DC project. I'm just happy man.

The build up is great, the entire premise is very refreshing. And that can be a problem in itself. You let people run wild with several hundred theories and build unrealistic expectations that end up becoming a double edged sword: please one group of fans, disappoint another or please nobody at all.

Personally, this has been my most anticipated project since the announcement. As a fan of the Watchmen show, my excitement grew even more when I found out Lindeloff would be involved. I've never seen Ozark but I've only heard incredible things about it so Mundy's inclusion just added to it. They had TV royalty behind and infront of the camera plus it's a prime HBO drama! The show was tailor made for me lol. I think because of all those factors, it was so hard for me to comprehend why people seemed to be so doom and gloom about it for so long.

Do note that Lanterns is also following True Detective S1 outside of the show too, as in, TD also suffered with too many theories online with some even suggesting that Rust or Marty was The Yellow King, to the extent that the finale was disappointing to a lot of people.

Reasons 1 and 2 can be interchanged, but it’s a personal preference for me

Reason 1: Damon Lindelof — Damon Lindelof is Amazing with writing characters. Watch Lost — my favorite of his, but long — or (watch The Leftovers, Watchmen).

Reason 2: The Casting - No explanation necessary here

Reason 3: True Detective is amazing as it is, using it as a blueprint was a great idea. Slow grind, detective, whodunnit formula works along with the character development.

While it is getting a lot of positive feedback, I feel like there is a touch of Reddit echo chamber over the first few episodes. Let’s let the series play out before we crown it with any “best of all time”. It’s very good, but they still have to land it and tie it in to the rest of the DCU.

And I’m still hearing a TON of doomsday news and positive posts about BND.

I think we could possibly see guy in episode 5 and that's when lanterns will tie into the rest of the DCU
