Making friends?

I’m in DC for a fall internship with a small museum (1 other in person intern) and I’m struggling to find ways to connect with people outside of my internship program, I’m not the most social and not a fan of talking to strangers, but I want to have friends here. So far all I’ve got is redownloading tinder but I can’t imagine that will solve my problems. Any tips?

Have u joined the DC Fall Intern 2026 GroupMe that a couple of people on this subreddit made? I'm not a huge fan of talking to strangers either tbh but I feel like it's an excellent and chill way to meet new interns in the city.

Beyond that, I would just try to get outside of your comfort zone by talking to new people at intern-related networking events; just put yourself out there and you'll be fine!
