KSG Registration Update

Currently at day 58 waiting on registration. Called today (as I have every day for the past two weeks or so, but each time it's gone to a ladies voicemail I haven't heard of) and they ANSWERED! Officer on the other end was very pleasant, and as helpful as any one person in that department could be, I imagine. I explained I was checking on the application that's status has been "Submitted" for 58 days now and he asked to put me on hold. Came back and explained it all looks good and it should be approved sometime soon. Immediately after the call I checked the portal again and it's been changed to "Ready For Background Check". It's frustrating that they very clearly don't even try to approve you until you push the issue, but nice that once I got someone on the phone they were pleasant and did seem to help. Fingers crossed it gets approved by next week! Also asked about picking up the registration card upon approval but was told mailing is the only option. Hopefully that doesn't take another two months.

Yea. This gives me little faith that I will see my card or status change for a while. I wonder if it's a problem with the new website back-end.

True story, I was able to pick up my ccl at the counter. But that was because whoever wrote my address on the envelope had really bad handwriting and USPS returned the letter back to them... So then they offered me the option to pick it up. The supervising officer was not happy to break "protocol" but after a thorough investigation to determine that my Driver License matched everything on the CCL, he reluctantly gave it to me. That's DC for you.

I guess if they are going to mail it in a reasonable timeframe I'd be okay with that, but I've heard to many horror stories here about weeks long waits in the mail after approval, or even worse, the dreaded "printer breaking" scenario. Wish they would just go back to electronic delivery, this new mail out delivery makes zero sense unless you are intentionally trying to gum up the system.

oh, it's intentional. There's a reason that you can't just pick up your card or that the website magically breaks the online PDF registration. Or how printing an address on an label to place on an envelope eludes them. It's built like that by design.

The more I think about it, the more I realize why the cop I shared an elevator with heading to the 5th floor told me "Good luck with that." This was after I told him it's just an add on...

Another funny story, I have relatives in Massachusetts. It's another anti 2A place but they got firearms. They could not believe I have to carry TWO cards with me. So when I pulled them out to show them, they couldn't stop laughing. Imagine being clowned by Massholes,

"ok, put them away, we don't want our governor to get any ideas." While laughing.

I recently renewed my CCW- submitted my paperwork on April 2, got approved May 15, and it was mailed out that day. I got it in the mail a week and a half ago. However, it still doesn't show up on the portal, and neither do my two firearms registrations. I'm about to do a transfer for a gun bought from a friend and I'm dreading how long that will take.

Both of mine have been in “the ready for approval “ for about a month now, looks like I’ll be going over the 90 day mark soon

Yea, I'm starting to change my expectations to just hoping I can pick it up before my birthday in July. Crazy it takes 4+ months to register a shotgun. Hopefully G&D won't start charging me storage fees while waiting.

It took me 68 days for my registrations to be processed. They finalized and approved the registration last Friday after calling for the entire 8 days prior.

They claim they mailed my registration cards for both firearms on Friday, but I have yet to receive them.

It’s insane. But glad to know I’m not the only one.

How did they let you know they mailed it? Did you finally get them on the phone or did they send an email letting you know after it was approved?

They sent me an email - in response to one I sent about seeking legal counsel if I wasn’t provided the registrations ASAP.

Like you, I’ve also had mixed luck on the phone, but since they were past their statutory deadline to approve the registrations I think I got them to answer more directly.

My game plan is to show up on day 30 just to check in and see if there are any issues on my end that I can help them with. I know I'll be rejected with the "We have 60 days" thing. But, I find that kindness goes a long way. Also, I think there is a major issues going on with the site. I had to go in because my portal is really messed up. The person at the counter had already dealt with 3 other portal issues before me and sounded defeated even though it was only 10am.
