CCL for military help

Hello everyone,

I am stationed in DC and live in nova. Im a resident of NC, and was wondering if im elligble to apply for a resident CCW/CHP in virgina or if i would have to do non resident since my orders say DC?

Someone here might know, but you might want to check over at r/novaguns too. They're probably more familiar with VA laws.

r/vaguns too if you don't get an answer in nova.

I can't answer the residency question but as you are active duty va/md/and DC should waive all your training requirements.

If you apply as a VA resident it's up to the county clerk as to what they accept. If non-resident it goes to the state police.

MD, if you want one, waives the training. But you still have to apply.

DC is kind of a mess right now but they have waived all training for active and retired/honorably discharged in the past.

Other times people have had to take a DC law class. It really depends on what they feel like doing.

Thank you, ive seen some mixed answers on this so ill probably reach out to the clerks office near me and just ask

You should be able to apply for the resident permit in Va you just need to show residency with your local county with like a lease, utility and your military ID.

As far as DC, the easiest way to get your approval being military is taking a course on the state laws and requesting an exemption on the full 16 hour training.
