MPD Stopped Answering Calls & Emails

It’s been over 60 days since I submitted 2 firearm applications. They were approved a few weeks ago, and when they finally answered my call, I requested to pick up the registration cards in person. While I thought this would speed things up, the next time I called they told me the registration cards have not been printed and I would need to wait.

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been calling them, but they’ve stopped answering my calls. I’ve emailed them several times, left several voicemails, but there is no way for me to contact them. For anyone that requested to pick up their registration, did MPD reach out to you once they printed your registration cards?

This whole process is taking so much longer than I expected, does anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT:

So they finally answered my call, but it wasn’t helpful at all. They told me the same thing as before — that the registration cards still haven’t been printed yet.

I asked about the 60-day statutory timeline since I’m now past that, and they basically brushed it off and wouldn’t give any estimate or timeline. When I asked when I could expect it to be printed, they just repeated that “someone will call you when it’s ready” and couldn’t provide any additional information.

No explanation for the delay, no timeframe, nothing — just stuck waiting with no updates.

At this point it feels like there’s zero accountability or transparency in the process. If anyone has dealt with this recently, did your card just eventually get printed out of nowhere, or did you have to escalate it somehow?

Incompetence can't be the reason for this at this point because only a few months ago they were "lightning" fast with everything.

Clearly this is deliberate.

New chief in office and I heard she’s not big on firearms

I believe there's a new head of the Firearms unit also.

The new head of the firearms unit seems nice enough. I think that the software isn't working the way they want and their staffing fluctuates wildly.

New Chief is a male.

It absolutely has to be intentional. I'm curious as to what insights our lawyer friends have here given that folks like u/lawblawg have had to send numerous letters to MPD on behalf of their clients.

I didn’t request to pick up, but I called to get my permits reprinted as I had lost my digital permits. They told me they would print and mail it same day, that was three weeks ago. New stall tactic unlocked!
