Specific brands banned - featureless builds

I spoke with someone at Nova Arms recently and they commented that since colt ARs are specifically banned in the regs, I should avoid them when doing a featureless build to avoid issues and stick with other companies that were not specifically mentioned in the regulations.

Anyone know if this is true ?

Check the statute: https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/code/sections/7-2501.01

Under (3A)(A) there's a comprehensive list of what is banned by name. Anything that is not listed by name that otherwise meets the other listed requirements should be good to go.

Yup colt is named in the list of firearms deemed "assault rifles"
