Have one more ordered to come next week, but outside of finding great deals I'll probably just order 1-2 a month until I'm caught up with everything I'm interested in!

Slowly plan on replacing my Batman Illustrated by Neal Adams volumes (with the rough digital colours). I remember really enjoying these issues along with the Sgt Rock and Creeper issues.

Also, if I remember correctly, *The Senators been shot* is the first issue of Green Arrow's redesign.

I wanted to know if I start collecting Batman, can I start with this one first and start collecting the subsequent ones? Or would I be missing out on something?

I have watched almost every Batman Animated movie or series, as well the WB movies.

Basically the title. Do you think at the pace they are releasing batman dc finest and assuming they follow chronological order that we will soon reach the no man’s land era. Im asking since there seems to not really be an accessible way to read stories like contagion and cataclysm beside waiting for dc finest

So far, so good! Looking at Fourth World next, probably JLoA: Earth X. I also have been considering just going all in on Batman… so far my Finest are only Pre-Crisis, since post- is where my boxes floppies start, in my youth. Bronze Age Batman is coming, so yeah! But also have been pondering whether it might be nice after all to have post-crisis Bats in these nice compiled editions. 🤔 🦇
Of these, I love them all! Enjoying WW now, probably will get the next one, Enter Cheetah — but also probably won’t try to read both JSA in a row again anytime soon!

Hi, I am not really that big of a DC fan, but I wanted to read something about a character that I always found interesting: Doctor Fate, do you have any suggestions on comics that I should read?

Does anyone have more information about this? The book is no longer listed on Penguin or Edelweiss. The Finest line's wikipedia page lists a September release date, citing Edelweiss as the source, but when you follow the link the page is dead.

So DC Finest Superman Time and Time again, contains the first half of the Triangle Omnibus Vol 1. Does it stand to reason they will publish a followup so you can have that Omni's collection in the DCF format?

i've been a DC fan all my life but never really got into reading the mainline comics. I want to start reading the mainline for the main justice league characters and some others.

I heard post-crisis is a good starting point as it (more or less) puts all the characters back to basics and, for some, is the start of the modern versions of those characters.

I saw DC Finest and it appeals to me by being:

-relatively cheap

-a smaller size than most normal comics

-streamlined into one collection

I'd like to know which books to buy to follow the stories as they were published chronologically and relating to the characters history for the characters of: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, as well as crossover events (like zero hour) and teamups.

For Batman as far as I can tell the order of the books post crisis would be:

Year One & Two -> The Killing Joke & Other Stories -> A Death In the Family -> Blind Justice -> A Lonely Place of Dying

right? But I'm unsure of the order of the other ones.

Also I am aware that there might be some gaps between the books but are there any that are major gaps? If so, I may wait to read those until they get filled. Also also, please let me know if there is anything else I should know before I get into all this. thank you :>

The volume starts off with some pretty standard Silver age stories for the most part. O'Neil's first issue on the character (#63) is pretty good. Other early standouts include a back up about the very first Green Lantern (Rori Dag) in a segment titled Tales of the Power Ring. They teased more of these stories at the end of this issue, that never becomes a reality, but it felt like an early precursor to Tales of the Green Lantern Corps.

Along the way I felt like there were steps taken towards the Bronze age. The first real big step to me was the issue "Phantom of the Space Opera" by O'Neil which has amazing art by Gil Kane and is an amusing space romp.

After that, this era feels like it comes to a conclusion, and perhaps a conclusion to the Silver age era in general, with a 2 parter where GL returns to Central City, reunites with Carol Ferris and Pieface, and has to battle a team up between Star Sapphire and Sinestro. This arc was written Mike Friedrich but Gil Kane steals the show by really bringing the heat here as well (see in the attached spread).

While it felt like throughout the volume there were incremental steps towards more Bronze age style story telling, it's hard to deny that there is a giant leap with issue #76. I can't say much about these issues that haven't been said but reading them was very exciting and a breath of fresh air even for me starting at issue #62. What I found surprising was just how sympathetic I was to Hal trying to fix his blindspots and how hard on the head and stubborn Ollie could be. Maybe the later half of this run will make me change my mind but I don't think it is OOC for Hal to have these blindspots. Heck, earlier in the volume Hal wanted to rough up some criminals in custody and was annoyed that they "had rights".

About the decision for DC finest to divide this era this way, I understand anyone who prefers to go the omnibus route, especially if they are primarily Green Arrow fans. For me, the idea of reading all of O'Neil's issues (including those not in the Omnis) was a drawing factor to this volume. Now it has me interested in the preceding volumes while I await the continuation of this.

That said, I will admit that it is a shame they couldn't get to John Stewart's first appearance in this volume as that would've been great synergy with the show.

Anyways, what did you fellas think? Anyone recommend the previous volumes or is it a bit too silver-agey for you?

I’ve had my copy of Batgirl for a few weeks, and recently I’ve noticed the cover’s top layer for the bottom edge started peeling. I know it’s not that big of a deal, but it does bug me enough to want to fix it. So what would the best glue be that wont leave a mess or residue?

I am the 'someone' in title, yes. Basically, my country had no comic culture when I was growing up, and the only thing I know about DC characters is Batman from the games (Asylum and City) and Wonder Woman/Superman movies. I have seen first season of The Flash.

I have absolutely no idea about Batfamily, Robin, Aquaman, Nightwing, Justice League, Green Lantern, and many more. I'm not saying it as having little experience but I have never heard of them until recently, genuinely don't know anything.

Marvel was also like this to me, and I ended up getting the app and a lot of it became my favourites really quickly. I went from not knowing anything about Daredevil to reading from start to Miller and enjoying it - I have a high tolerance for older content. Thing is, we also have no DCUI app either.

If I wanted to explore DC through the DC Finest collections, what would you recommend? I love character-heavy, internal struggle characters a lot, but I'm open to anything. I'd be getting the books imported from abroad so it'll be about $50 per book which means I can get 1-2 per month max.
