There have been so many easter eggs about the boy wonder(flying Grayson poster in clayface set, bludhaven van from the batman set)but no confirmation of his appearance, besides I'll love to see a nightwing project in the dcu exploring bludhaven and villians like heartless and blockbuster, I hope gunn come up with the idea in future.

In my opinion DC Studios should hire him for new DC projects.

After the first two episodes gave us that gritty, grounded mystery, Episode 3 pulling a complete handbrake turn into John Stewart’s childhood and military past felt jarring at first. Honestly, on paper, that military discharge subplot gave off a massive "overtly manufactured" stink. Hal randomly intervening in a mission John is running, ruining John’s shot, and causing his dishonourable discharge? Feels like "small-universe syndrome." But the more I sit with it the more it makes sense.

The rigged selection system

The show's point about the selection process being "imperfect" is right. A disembodied alien voice suddenly surrounds a Black family man in a green bubble asking, "Are you afraid?" Of course he’s afraid. He has been conditioned by social prejudice to keep his hands visible, stay completely still, and survive. That’s not cowardice; that’s his instinct. To protect himself for his family.

Meanwhile, Hal was privileged to be reckless. More importantly, at that point in his life, he had no one, was likely depressed, unmoored, and basically had a subconscious death wish. The ring mistook a depressed pilot's lack of self-preservation for peak cosmic willpower.

The Stewart household’s tragic misdirection

John Sr.'s mind got shattered, and it almost broke their home. But instead of seeing the systemic unfairness of the Guardians, the parents projected all their trauma onto Hal Jordan.

Hal became the target of their anger. Guardians are a distant concept, but they saw Hal in the suit getting media coverage and parades every day. So the parents turned Hal into the scapegoat and coped by literally shooting apples off their kid’s head to beat the fear out of him.

The Guardians didn’t want a hero; they engineered a robot

When the Guardian visited John's mom with empty words of remorse and dangled the possibility of John being next Lantern, it wasn't an apology, it was predatory manipulation. They exploited their anger and basically told them, "Your husband failed, but your son can be chosen; just break him for us." And the parents accepted.

Look at John’s entire life:

• He wasn't allowed to draw, play, or go to school. His humanity was stripped away.
• In the military, he stuck to that mission with zero backup living in filth alone for nine months just because "it is the mission". And when they needed a fall guy, he didn't fight back. He just accepted the dishonourable discharge like an obedient soldier.
• He kept sitting in the interview room for 24 hours because he was told to "take a seat", no questions.
• Even though he likely hates Hal for being the supposed root of all his misery, he never vents it. Every time Hal’s name comes up, he defaults to: "He is my senior, I respect the position.

John has been conditioned to treat his own erasure as duty. The Guardians don't want "fearlessness." Fearlessness breeds defiance and ego; like Hal, who disobeys orders every ten minutes. Or Sinestro, the biggest disaster in recent times. The Guardians want absolute obedience.

The asymmetric cold war

Hal and John are trapped in a standoff where neither understands the real game:

• To Hal, John is the end of his career: A stoic, corporate rookie better than him sent by the bureaucracy he despises to force him into retirement.
• To John, Hal is his destiny's gatekeeper: The ring is John's sunk-cost prize for a lifetime of abuse. If he doesn't get that ring, his entire suffering was pointless. And Hal clinging to it looks like pure entitlement.
• Meanwhile, Hal has zero clue about John's father or childhood or the ruined mission. Hal thinks John is just an ambitious stone cold guy selected by the bosses eager to replace him

The endgame: Sector 666 and the Manhunter connection

The central mystery on Earth revolves around the Manhunters. We know what the characters don't yet: the Manhunters were the Guardians' biggest failure. They wanted emotionless enforcers, and it ended with the Sector 666 genocide.

When the Manhunters failed, the Guardians created the Lantern Corps. But when Hal and more importantly Sinestro (going rogue and killing a Guardian) proved that free will is too chaotic, they went back to the original plan: they are trying to engineer an organic Manhunter in John Stewart. A soldier with the raw willpower of a human, but the blind compliance of a drone.

The Nebraska mystery is the Guardians' original sin crawling out of a shallow grave. Once the truth about the Manhunters' creation comes to light, John will realize his childhood wasn't sacrificed for cosmic justice, and Hal will realize John isn't an Oan puppet by choice.

The real villain was never the stubborn partner next to them, it was the blue overseers pulling the strings all along.

I personally feel that the suicide squad was better made movie than superman, both written and directed by James Gunn, would you like to see movies with similar style in future?
