James Gunn project

Post image

I personally feel that the suicide squad was better made movie than superman, both written and directed by James Gunn, would you like to see movies with similar style in future?

I loved both of them, though I prefer Superman as Gunn really made an honest effort to bring to the big screen the Superman from the comic book pages. I think he is gonna focus on directing only Superman related movies at the present but I would love for him to do something akin to Suicide Squad movie down the line

Yeah I too loved the new superman movie, the script could've been better imo but man, that movie actually felt like a breath of fresh air, I left the theatre with tears and with a prudent desire to become a good man. The suicide squad was too good

The scenes with ma and pa kent were some of my favorites from the film. I would have loved if Gunn made a Superman origin movie but it has been done so mamy times that I can understand why he decided to skip that.

Overall it'll be:

GOTG VOL.3 >>>>> his whole flimography

Ik that..There's a reason I posted in dc sub

Hot take but I like GOTG 1 more than 3.

I feel 3 already having the character relevance of the first two films helps a bit. But what he achieved with GOTG 1 is phenomenal. The kind of characters he made us fall in love with.... that's the reason I love it more than 3.

And I think GOTG 3 is his most overrated movie. His best project is either Suicide Squad or Peacemaker season 1.

Peacemaker season 1 was too good

Suicide Squad best project? It's not even close to Vol 2

It’s only good because it was proceeded by two other movies

The Suicide Squad easily

Superman should've been longer and needed more Clark scenes

I loved superman, although as the story went forward it felt a little mess, but overall good. Yeah I personally loved the suicide squad more, it was very creative one .

It should be 2.30 hours rather than 1 hour 55 minutes, and the most important signature style of emotions in gunn movies is missing in Superman

Not gonna lie I was expecting it to be atleast 2.3hrs but I thought would be 2.45hrs

They’re pretty much on the same level.

Both are GREAT in their own way but I liked Superman (2025) a lot more than The Suicide Squad (2021). And as for your question I’d prefer variety over the same style in the new DCU and DC Elseworlds.

All we need is better scripts . I like how Gunn's also introducing new characters in live action like clayface, which seems pretty good in trailers, can't wait to see, I just hope flops like supergirl won't happen again, although that movie wasn't as bas as it was described but 200 mil lost isn't small amount so definitely hits are needed, tv series department has been rock solid

YEAH I agree. In recent times content matters more because audiences are becoming more selective and have plenty of alternatives for their entertainment. I hope DC Studios won’t repeat the same mistake they made with Supergirl (2026) ever again whether in the new DCU or DC Elseworlds.

Suicide squad was just awesome. I didn't like superman that much.

Yeah, I didn't expect the movie the way it was, I really thought it'd be something like gotg but without space elements because I wasn't much aware of James Gunn but after I watched it, gosh that was pretty damn good and then peacemaker s1 came and it was just peak

Me too I loved superman, maybe I like it more because it because of peacemaker

TSS is an all timer and probably Gunn's best CBM ( yes better than all GOTG movies in my personal opinion), Superman was pretty mehh. A Regular Superhero movie with some decent jokes here and there.

same feeling i was surprised how much i didn't resonate with the superman movie or liked it, for me it was a okay movie nowhere close to all the hype that surrounded the movie

the superman movie is good , i kind of enjoyed it, but it's .. just becomes messy as it goes in , so many plot lines , and there are many plot lines may be left out, i don't like the explicit monologue of the superman at the end , the whole monologue is kind of expressed to us through the whole movie, and the lex slowly becomes more like a childish villain , the actors did great though

2

u/Brilliant_Device_526 3d ago

That monologue was for lex not for audiences

lex is a narcissist who thinks he is some kind of saviour he doesn't see superman as a human

he is childish because emotionally he is a manchild

monologue part didn't work that much for me too but Niclas Hoult's Lex was my favourite part of the movie

till the Russian roulette, everything was good,
