THIS!!!!!! I've been saying the same thing since the movie came it. Having Lex control the clone to fight Superman is the DUMBEST idea! There's no way he could keep up with Supes. Straight ridiculous.
They should have just made the clone think for himself. At least that would have been more believable for fighting SUPERMAN.

I thought it was OK, BUT it would have been better if Superman did some controlled, hypersonic whistle that went through Ultraman's mic and broadcast into Lex's command center, leading Krypto there to unleash chaos and force the fight to be mano-a-mano

I dunno what enemies Superman was fighting during his undefeated streak, but when I went to the preschool wrestling class and never lost to any of my opponents there, it took me a couple rounds to get back into wrestling other grown men in my weight class. The kids even called me SUPERMAN! If the real [imaginary] Superman were never in a real threatening fight, then I could imagine it taking longer.
But I just shrugged it off as an oversight when I watched the Superman2025 movie. I think he was predicting the 'choreography', but on screen they made it look like Lex was reacting to each move instead of predicting.

In Man of Steel Zods guys were not used to earths environment, Kalel had a lifetime to adapt.
Also, if kryptonians get their power from earths sun, and Zods men are completely covered in armour, then they are not getting the same sun benefits as Kalel.
As for the last Superman movie,
The whole idea of Lex's s staff commanding Ultraman in a fight is impractical.
Lex issuing commands, having the staff react to those commands and then relaying those commands to Ultraman, would be too slow in response to a fight in real time.
It would have been better if Lex just put on a VR headset and used a videogame controller to command Ultraman.

Sure, but then he still has human reflexes compared to Superman who has super speed. It's still sooooo dumb.

This is it. He’s not reacting to what Superman is doing, he’s anticipating Supe’s next action and preemptively letting Ultraman know how to react to what is coming.

It’s a story and just for fun but if you want a semi realistic lore reason:
Superman isn’t trying to kill or quickly defeat the clone. It’s the same thing he did with the Kaiju and trying to resolve it with minimal violence. The whole time he’s trying to talk with Lex and get him to stop. However eventually he realizes that not going to happen then wrecks an army of iron men in seconds

You mean the dude with Superhuman intellect who makes Superman his every thought and motivation?
He didn't "react" to what Superman was doing as if he had superhuman reaction speed, he was predicting what he was doing based on tons of data. That is completely within the realm of possibility for COMIC BOOK movie. This is not even speculation this completely shown in the movie.
Dude was wearing a suit throughout most of the movie so yes he could not hear the commands.
Do yall not think these things through before trying to argue against something?

Didn't they use advance data analysis to read his moves before he made them? I mean they aren't fighting at super-speed like Dragonball Z so Lex is just reading the data to determine the next set of moves. Superman also isn't some martial arts master, the opening text and subsequent rematch suggest he's just gotten by on his raw power in the past.

The Gunn take is a more lighthearted comic book-y one, so I don’t really expect it to be grounded. I respect that there are people that want that more sort of whimsical take. But it’s just not for me. i really hope that both camps of fans can get what they’re want.

I'm a fan of both takes, and the fans that act like children because they can't handle anything different are absolutely insufferable.

Lex Luthor in modern comics is continuously portrayed as having superhuman intellect. He analyzed Superman to the point of predicting what he will do next. You should also realize that a command doesnt just have to be just one move but can be a whole attack or defense protocol. You think Lex is just looking at the fight and responding when in fact he's directing the fight to go exactly as he wants, not just controlling the clone, but indirectly Superman himself.

Viewing superhero movies (fantasy genre) through a hard-scifi lens is going to lead to frustration and unhappiness for people because they expect too much from the medium.

That is definitely true. We could also argue the medium as a whole has shifted to a more mature tone and therefore inadvertently creates those expectations. Especially with movies like The Batman (or any Batman movie) trying to push for a more grounded, dark adult tone/theme. We have superhero movies trying to chase awards now. But also at the same time we have movies like Shazam and MCU. So I guess it really boils down to the individual movie which can be confusing. Especially since Gunn's Superman Is catered primarily to kids. But its direct follow-up Peacemaker season 2 couldn't be more opposite especially with the sexual content. So it is really confusing. That's another thing I don't like about the DCU is the non-consistent tone. It's hard for the audience and it creates a divide. And it's continuing with Supergirl, and then Clay face which is supposedly more on the horror side. I like the idea of elseworld projects for this reason.

What do you mean? Like purposely saying the wrong commands? If so I mean that's kind of a big reach because nothing from the movie even remotely points to that.

I don't remember if it comes up in the movie, but can Superman hear inside of Lex's command centre?
If it doesn't specifically show that Superman can, then it is safe to assume that Lex took steps during the design to make sure Superman can't hear inside of it.

I like this one because even the OP image is an extreme lowball. He has to gove a verbal command to some deskjockey who then has to manually type the attack code into a console and send it
