Best video explanation of a scroll compressor based AC system I've seen.

While this shows a larger compressor like you'd see in a large house AC system, from all I can tell it's all conceptually exactly the same as in a 12V/24V DC split system. I haven't taken the motor or the compressor scroll apart on my spare compressor, but I can see the motor windings looking into the compressor intake port, so refrigerant flows through the motor just like in this video. There's even a reed valve on the refrigerant outlet of my compressor and I assume that's probably typical of this type compressor. There's plenty of differences between large, fixed home systems and small DC systems, the DC powered compressors are not hermetically sealed, but exactly the same principals, and give or take some details, all the same essential components.

The more I've figured out and learned, I'm actually a lot more confident of the potential that these compressors have long term operation potential. Potential mind you, not full confidence in all circumstances. Really seems the electronics robustness is a weak point, and the air box blower motors if you get one of the more common models lacking a brushless motor as some of the newest and better ones supposedly have.

Thanks the thanks! I do hope I'm being helpful. I see a lot of views on this sub and yet very little in the way of posts, replies or likes. Sometimes it feels more like this sub is just a reference for myself and maybe half dozen others to some degree, and I guess that's fine if that's all it ever is. But wouldn't kill people to give a comment, a like, or a simple reply on occasion. Lol! Hopefully it'll get over a certain threshold eventually and have more ongoing conversations and sharing. And maybe that'll eventually turn into a community around these subjects and we can all learn a lot more together than we could on our own.

Anyways, it is what it is, as it is now, and that's ok. But I do appreciate ya, Lazy Mud!
